314.0. "Psychic Visions" by STUDIO::IDE (Can't this wait 'til I'm old?) Tue Nov 03 1992 15:53

George and Barbara Bush will do a Barbara Walters interview from their
    permanent home in Kennebunkport.

An aging rock legend will tour Japan and release an embarrassing live
    album.

Many more to come as I have more visions of the future.

    Please add your own.

    Ok... I'll play too :-)

Clinton wins... Perot does better than anyone expected (including
himself)... the GOP is embarrassed by Bush's performance and takes
the hint that they must clean up their act if they are to survive..
...alternative party candidates do very well, many of them get in..
... big shakeup ... with incumbents left out in the cold, rain and
snow... the beginning of the beginning..... and once again, it's

This election basically will break the stranglehold that the radical
right has on the Republican Party. I look for the party to start
slowly moving more to the moderate side ... what Weld called the Big
Umbrella. I think you will see folks like Weld, Kemp, and Dole, who are
basically conservative but not fanatical, taking more of a leadership
role. And GOP fanatics like Buchanan will be left in the political dust.
The American public has seen the results of the politics of hate and fear.
Of course, they'll have to keep Quayle around for comic relief.

Ok... here's a vision to ponder... the Mars Observer discovers concrete
proof of the existence of intelligent life on Mars.. a bunch of human
looking faces (visible pupils in the eyes), artifacts, crumbling remains
of huge cities.. covering much of the planet... the U.N. pulls a team
together to study the matter... the team includes George Bush, Micheal
Gorbachev and Maggie Thatcher among others...

Dave, from what I heard, while the Mars Observer will be making no
special attempts to focus on the face, the team is aware of the
interest in the region and will likely be taking images there
as well as else where. They plan on imaging most of the planet.
The problem is that the high-resolution camera can only cover
1.5 kilometer areas and the face is not likely to get caught
with it. But, if they are in the right place at the right time
they will make the attempt. I don't expect them to see much
out of the ordinary. After all, New Hampshire has the 'Old Man
of the Mountain" and chances are that aliens did not carve
    that out.

DEC stock up 2-5 pts. short term, gradually settling back to where it
is today (~40). A major market correction in the fall will drop it
down to 25-35, where it will be at year's end. Layoffs, attrition, and
spin-offs (most notably Storage) will bring the book value in line with
    a 25-35 share price.

I think we'll hang out pretty close to where we are today: high 30s, low 40s
deep into august. Q1 is the quarter for us: wall street is saying, ok, you
guys have a little profit, but can ya sustain it? if Q1 comes out positive,
i think we'll see the stock break through the 50s; if Q1 is in the red, back
into the low 30s we go.

i'm a short-term bull on DEC stock: last week i bought an additional 100
shares at 37.5 in hopes of this qtr's results bringing the price, short-term,
up into the mid-40s, in which case i will dump it. which reminds me, before
i split on vaca for 2 days, i should set up a sell order for $45 ...

Well, let's hope you're wrong, Jamie. :-) One thing's for sure, if they ever
did that, we thankfully wouldn't hear Mr. Roboto because it's on Kilroy Was
Here, not Paradise Theater. I think PT is an excellent album (their last good
one), and I almost saw them open up the 1992 season at Great Woods but they
cancelled the show :-(

Yes they were. Paradise Theater was about the real theater in Chicago (?) that
was torn down.

Admittedly, I've never listened to Kilroy all the way through, but I can't
imagine it being better that PT. Besides, most 70's rock acts started making
real trash in the 80's. Yes, PT came out in 1981, but IMO 1981 was still part
of the 70's (and that's a complement).

Gotta disagree, Adam-san...Saturday Night Fever came out in 1977 -
clearly a landmark of the dark ages of modern music. We can probably
mark the terminus of this era (that seemed like an eon) with the
release if "In The Dark", and the subsequent mass munchkin migration
toward the Dead - when was that, 1986? Nine years is a terrible thing

I have to disagree with you, Hogan. Maybe "popular" music in the mid-'70s
sucked, but there were great things starting. The whole punk movement
and new-wave stuff came out of that time. Elvis Costello's first album
was released in '76 (or '77). The Talking Heads were doing great stuff
with Talking Heads '77 and More Songs About Buildings and Food. The
Clash, Police, Joe Jackson, Pretenders.... Not to mention the Reggae
    and Ska movements.

    There was lots of great music from the mid-'70s through the early '80s;
it just wasn't on most radio stations.
