Hey Andy,
I was wondering if you were still here, now I wonder if you'll get a
chance to read this. I do hope this turns out better for you than it sounded
when we talked. But maybe they're a better company than DEC is these days.
At least you won't have to feel like you're on a sinking ship un less you
really are and then you'd get a chance to swim. On the other hand it sounds
like you better than the new package (envelope).

Good luck, I'm sure I'll see you around.

412.17let your life proceed by its own designPOWDML::PENTLICKIFri Aug 26 1994 17:3831

Well, I thought I'd have more time today to say whatever
I'm about to say, but seems like today is as hectic as any previous
day.

Today is my last day here at Digital. My last year of full time
grad school starts Monday. I started here at Digital as a lowly
intern getting 13 credits for the spring semester. Luckily, when
it seemed like I'd be mowing lawns for the summer, the Corporate
licensing office here gave me a break and hired me for the summer.
It was about that time in May when I had some trouble with my PC
when Leslie Palmer from computer support asked me "well, let's see
here, you need more memory space for this Access software, Do You
Use Your Notes File?" I said "Uh?" Leslie said "you don't know
about the *notes file*?" I said "no." She figured I liked beer
so she gave me access to BEER. She said "any other interests?"
I said "why don't you try the Grateful Dead" She smirked and found
GRATEFUL. My life has changed ever since then. I tried talking
on BEER but found the conversation to be insensitive, even rude, and
generally unstimulating. GRATEFUL on the otherhand, as we all know
here, is just on big lovefest. I thought I'd be a great source for
tape trades, I was right, but it has been much, much more. I have
made good friends, learned a lot about other people's perspectives
and had a lot of good laughs. Its tough to say how I've enjoyed
my time in this notes file, but easy to say how much I'll miss
all of you. I hope that I stay in touch with the people I've
met in person thus far and hope that I met still more of you
GRATEFUL noters in the future. Bye for now, but see ya in the future.

412.30See ya later;')CASDOC::ROGERSperipheral visionaryThu Sep 22 1994 18:3040
    Hi folks,

I just resigned from DEC. My last day is September 30th, so it's time
    to say "See you later." "Goodbye" sounds too permanent (and formal);
besides, many of us have crossed paths in the past, and some of us will
cross trails in the future. It's an extremely small world out there
    nowadays to say goodbye.

I will be working for a small subsidiary for Mosby Times Mirror in the
Washington, DC area as a managing editor. The position entails
developing and creating documentation/multimedia applications for the
medical and healthcare reform fields, and possibly expanding into
the environmental market in the future. The opportunity to grow
professionally and personally in this position and environment is too
good to pass on, even though aspects of it appear scary in terms of
what I'm going to do. It has been a year of exciting and often turbulent
change, and now is the time to explore and reexamine some longlost
ideals and dreams. I've also been told that I'm going to be responsible
for passing my bad habits onto an impressionable young staff;-).

I'm psyched about the possibilities in this position, but am saddened
at leaving DEC (it will always be DEC rather than Digital to me) and
New England. I have been at DEC for almost eight years, and this file
was one of the first places I called home. I haven't been in here too
much over the last couple of years due to the cuts our group has taken,
and just not having time to follow the Dead like I used to. It's been
a long time since I've seen them now.

I'm not sure where I'm living yet but it will be on somewhere on
Capitol Hill in DC. I lived there many years ago and it was an
exciting place to live. I hope to have an address before I leave next
week. I will not have an internet account for a couple of months,
which may not be the worst thing that could happen to me:-).

As I've said elswhere, remember that you *can* color outside the lines
no matter what you are told;')

Take care and enjoy the ride!

    Mike

    hi Mike!!!

well, as one of the many who has crossed your path at various points in
time, all i can say is GOOD LUCK!!! you've been the source of an awful
lot of grate tapes for all of us over the years and for that a simple
"thank you" doesn't seem quite enough!

so i raise my coffee cup to you (sorry, can't have naything better in
the office! :^) and wish you the best on your latest road... as you
said, it's too small a world to say good bye... so fare thee well

congrats on the new job mike!

it sounds very challenging and fun...

i'll remember mike as one of the very generous tapers in here.
many times, i asked mike to make me tapes and he never turned me down. my
collection was small and i don't think i ever had anything worth trading to
mike!! i was always one who received from mike's collection, and today, i
still have many of those tapes that often find their way to my tapedeck.
in turn, my collection has grown and i have passed along the same tape
giving spirit that mike had with me. in the last 3 yrs, i have made easily
10 or 20 times more tapes then i have received. passing the buck. sorta
the deadhead spirit of tape giving and trading.

	best of luck mike!

412.45Someday our paths will crossPOWDML::CUTLERTue Sep 27 1994 15:3628
    Congradulations Mike:

While our paths have crossed so to speak, we've never been on them at
the same time!!! Like many other said before, Mike was a great help to
me in establishing my tape collection. Mike was especially helpful in
fereting out tapes of shows that I may have attended years ago. When it
came time for you to move a few years back, I brought you in a bag full
    of tape boxes which you collected from my office, alas while I was out;
consequently, our paths have never crossed at the same time. I am
certain that this is my loss. :-( :-( :-(

DEC has certainly changed over the 7+ years that I have been here and
lots of my friends and colleagues are no longer here. While each has
his/her own reason for leaving, I am certain that you have given this a
great deal of thought and I trust your new job will provide you
everything you are looking for. From your description, it certianly
    sounds interesting. Best of luck.

I certainly do hope that our paths will cross sometime in the future so
I can mmet the generous person that you are.

    Best of luck.

Yet another adios. I've recently accepted a contract position with Coors in
Golden CO and my last day is on the 28th (will start the new job on
Halloween :^) Don't know when I'll get connected back in electronically,
looking into possible Compuserve or AOL or something -- so I hope to get this
worked out soon.

As many of you know already, this is what I've been striving after for some
time now. As with many previous sentiments, this notesfile is what I will miss
the most from Digital (actually it's probably the only thing I'll miss at this
point) I'll realy miss all the grate folks, discussion and info and the overall
feeling of community that exists in here. It's like we've got our own little
virtual dead show that we can stop in and out of at will - keep spreading the
love and understanding :^)

Anyone who might be interested in setting up some future tape trades or even if
you have all the trade sources you'd like, but might be willing to dub a show
or two in the future sometime - please let me know - Thanks!

To all those that I've had a chance to spend time with over the years -- thanks
for the grate times and vibes... I'll be back to the Whitehorse and Marthas
sooner or later, and I'll be looking for y'all :^)

May your guiding spirits accompany you all to peace and harmony...

Enjoy--'

    Hey Glennn,
Congrats!!!!!!! So you gonna stay there in Black Forest or move up
towards Golden? The commute from BF could be a bitch in the winter.
Fortunately, living near Golden is closer to the ski areas, Red Rocks,
    etc... Stay in touch brother!

I think they are now limiting the amount of beer to be consumed.
    For Glennnn's sake, I hope.
