I saw the FEAT and Buffet and

the "re-formed Lowell-less FEAT" open for the Dead in Oxford. Taint the
same band w/ Craig Fuller (???) whom I've heard is out and some female is in.
She could probably sing Lowell songs better ...anyone know if that's true?

I'd like to see the old "Day on the Green" with The Who and The Dead

but today? I guess I'd like what's already been said....

Buffett and the Dead but only if Jimmy doesn't insist on playing UJB :)
Stones/Dead would be a mega show but also w/ its mega-headaches...

I wonder if the Black Crowes will be opening for them...

I know they are opening in Tampa and have heard rumors of them opening
at the Northwest shows....

I saw them at the Orpheum on a SatNite a week or 2 ago and all I can say
is THEY ROCKED! I had an excellent time and I kept thinking that the people
down in Tampa ought to go inside to hear the show....they even did a space
like thing that was nice.

The Dirty Dozen Brass Band opened up for them and came out (well 1/2 of them
came out) and did Hard To Handle - nice version w/ lots of horns.

Sinatra opened for the Dead? Yer kiddin'?

Not likely Phish will ever open for them. They hate the association
between the two bands already, and it isn't likely that the two very busy
touring schedules could ever be coordinated.

I like both bands, but I don't understand the connection between them
either - their styles are so radically different....the only commonality
appears to be the audience.

Hey Sloan,

DMB = dave matthews band - soon to be on TV on Sat.Nite.Live.

CCR - yea, Tom Fogarty died from what I think were complications due to
Aids but am not positive. This was a few years ago. Not John (who sang/wrote)
but Tom.

ps. CCR/John Fogarty can't even play CCR tunes due to the "screwin'" they

it was Blues Traveler until they ID'd the band. I like 'em.

LeBlanc: No, "we" meant anyone who wants to see a dead show, Phish or no Phish!

Hapgood: I think Fogerty is allowed to play CCR tunes now. They settled that
matter a year or 3 ago. Didn't he play some CCR with the Dead at the Bill

Phish was never a Dead cover band. just because they used to play some covers
of dead tunes doesn't make them a Dead cover band. would you call them a Duke
Ellington cover band because they play Take the A-Train and Caravan? or an
Allman's cover band because they play Whipping Post? or a Neil Diamond cover
band because they play Cracklin' Rosie? or an AC/DC cover band because they
play Highway to Hell? they play a wide range of cover songs, from a wide range
of musical genres, and some of those songs used to be from the Dead. i'd
imagine they dropped the few Dead songs from their rotation because they got
sick of being called a Dead cover band.
