Hi All.

Maybe we should start a separate WANTED note...

Anyway. I'm looking to adopt a female kitten. Preferably between 6 and 12 weeks
old. I live/work in Nashua NH.

Send me mail if you've got any info on one. (Give .19 first dibs, though,
since that note got in here first)

37.4Butterscotch kitty wantedWEDOIT::NMCCARTHYNora at the Mill 223-3898Tue Dec 17 1991 12:4917
(If this is in the wrong note, moderator please move...thanks.)

Wanted: one butterscotch-colored kitten for my 7 year old son. He's
very specific about the coloring. I am willing to pay a reasonable
amount of $, however, I'd love a free one. We are a one-cat (already)
household (and Mittens is VERY happy!) so we can provide a very good
home for a new kitty. If we don't find one for Christmas, his birthday
is Feb. 3rd, so we'll try again for that date.

(I have already tried the local shelter but they did not have a
butterscotch colored kitten.)

thanks in advance and Happy Holidays!

Cheryl -

I loved your note. Lea sounds definately like she is/would be
the queen of the palace.

I know you said short hair but then you mentioned a purr machine
also. There are TWO 5 year old Himalayans male, neutered cats
declawed in the front and up to date on their shots who are
looking for a home. (Being the owner of two of these purr boxes
as well as being very partial to this breed) I would highly re-
commend them. They are layed back and very little fazes them
(So they get along with other cats well) and take little time
to accustom themselves to their new household.

They are listed under the title of cats looking for homes.

Let us know when you decide and what you get. Oh boys, another
older cat who is going to be adopted.

I got a kick out of you saying that you liked your "laid back
persian" and that your first choice for a new cat was an Aby.
Talk about extreems!! Persians are at one end of the energy
spectrum and Abys are at the other.

37.9I met an affectionate OcicatAIMHI::PMURPHYMon Jan 06 1992 11:5517
Gee, I'd have to disagree about Ocicats not being affectionate. Though
I don't own one myself, I was benched with a woman from Texas last year
who has an absolutely gorgeous and VERY affectionate Ocicat. I believe
she said they were working on their International Supreme Championship
points, if I remember correctly. Until I met her and her Ocicat I
thought it was bred from the Ocelot. The Ocicat came from an accidental
breeding between two recognized breeds of cats, Aby and maybe a
Siamese I think. Maybe someone else in this file can confirm.

BTW, the Ocicat (sorry, but I can't remember his name right now but
will check my show catalog when I get home tonight) she owns is in a
multi-cat household and is a whole male she uses for breeding. He was
not a hyperactive cat either, in case anyone is wondering; he sure
enjoyed the show atmosphere too. ;-)

I don't think we should make generalizations like "all Ocicats are not
affectionate" or "all Himalayans/Persians urinate
indiscriminately", etc. Each cat within a breed is an individual. I
owned 3 Ragdoll cats (still have one), all full brothers, all with
personalities completely different from one another. I always prefer
to use the prefix, "As a general rule", then attach the breed
temperament description as a suffix.

As a general rule, Himalayans are docile, affectionate cats. (A
previous reply had mentioned obtaining one as a companion for her
Persian.) However, I have known some that are not. Environment and
upbringing have a lot to do with this as well as selective breeding.
Choose your breeder carefully and wisely and you should come home with
a happy, well-adjusted kitten!

I have an older kitten in need of a nice home. My apartment building I
live in doesn't like my cat. They told me that I have 5 days to find
her a new home or we would have to. She is all white with a little grey
patch on her head. She loves to be held and to to be patted. I would
love to keep her but I can't. She hasn't been any problem what so ever
since I have gotten her. She has been fixed with all her shots. She is
a very clean cat. She is about 11 months old or so. If I can't find her
a nice home by Jan. 15, I have no choice but to put her in the humane
society. I live in Merrimack N.H. and I will travel with in reason.
Please send any mail to me at "XCUSME::MALONE" or call me at home, my

Hi JM.

I recently adopted a kitten from Metheun SPCA...

You may also try the Monadnock Shelter (out near Keene, NH), the Penacook Shelter
(which is up by Concord). Also the Goffstown Shelter.

You can get all the #'s from information.

There's also Kitty Angels in Tyngsboro (I think the number is in here somewhere)

Good luck. Keep trying. It took me 3 weeks of calling/driving/disappointments
'til I found a female kitten at this time of year...

My future sister-in-law is looking for a cat. She is willing to take an

there are only three things that this cat must be.

1) Like people
2) Be able to get along with a Golden Retriever
3) A good hunter

Holly,

A friend of mine just rescued a longhair black and white very
affectionate cat (indoor/outdoor) that is currently at the vet getting
a tune up and neuter (spay?). I'm not sure of the gender but whatever
the cat will be an "it" afterwards. It has tested negative for felv.

Write me off line for more info. From what Susan tells me, this cat is
a love. It was hanging around her house in Milford (MA) for weeks and
she just couldn't bear it out in the cold so decided to intervene. Not
certain if it likes dogs though.

37.27Looking for kittenFORTY2::ROBERTSONThat's me in the cornerTue Feb 04 1992 09:5916
This seemed the most likely topic to enter this.

I am desperately trying to find somewhere in the Reading (UK) area where I can
get a young (10 week old) kitten. My son's 9 month old cat was knocked over and
killed last night, and we are wanting to replace her asap to help get over the
loss, it's not even been a day yet and the place is so empty :-(.

Keisha was a black/brown tabby and ideally we'd like something similar.

If you have or know anyone with kittens that need a good home please let me know

Thanks in advance

Alistair

re -.2

Thanks.

Yes I have tried all the local animal homes. This time of year just isn't the
right time for kittens.

I've found a possible source through my VTX add which I will be following up
this evening.

I have considered an older cat, but with two children under 6 and a dog I feel
that the younger the cat the quicker he/she'll be comfortable, and the kids will
take to a kitten quicker too.

With Keisha, she was best friends with the dog after a week.

However, being no expert I may be wrong.

I've had 2 people and 2 cats in a 2 bedroom apartment. Worked just fine. My
apartment was also on the third floor. I opted to keep my cats indoor-only.
I decided we lived too close to a major road to risk having my kitties squashed.
I also didn't have to worry about worms or fleas or any other nasties, as well
as the logistics of how they would get back into the building. (If kitty isn't
at the door waiting to come in, do you start calling for him/her and maybe
bother your neighbors? What if someone else lets your kitty into their
apartment?)

Joe,

I took in my little Beth when she was only 4 weeks old. It's a long story, but
she was very sick and had to be taken from Mom. It wasn't a pretty sight.
4 week old kittens need Mommy, need Mom's milk, and need Mom's disipline.
My Beth didn't know how to eat, drink, or go potty on her own. Set your
sites on an older kitten--at least 8 weeks, but 12 weeks is a perfect age.
Mom's taught them a thing or two about behaving...

Wanted: One short haired solid black female kitten, around 8-11 weeks
old. (similar to catwoman's cat in the new batman movie). My roomate
already had 2 black cats around 8 years old, but I wish to have one of
my own. This kitty will be indoor only, and be spoiled rotten. The
other kitties are really friendly and will adapt well to a new kitty.
I live in the Northern California area, specifically Mountain View. I
haven't looked in the local shelter yet, but plan to next week, if
nothing turns up here. Thanks for any help.

Well I'm checking with all the people I know in this area (Santa
Clara County) to see if anyone has a shorthaired solid black female
to place (last year at this time I did).

Are you sure I can't interest you in a brown tabby shorthaired male
or a brown tabby longhaired male or female? I also know of a mostly
white with black spots (unknown if male or female) and a grey and
white male.

I'll let you know when I have an answer. I know of a woman who took
in two litters of 5 kittens each and we're checking to see if she has
any solid black kitties.

Well, the woman who took in all the litters of kittens does have an
all black cat now. However, these kittens were just born on 6/28 and
won't be ready to leave for approx. 8 weeks. She is not sure if the
black one is male or female at this time. If you'd like to talk to
her I can ask my friend who is the contact for this woman about
exchanging phone numbers. Please let me know.

Just to let everyone know... I got an e-mail from Vivian regarding my
friend's kittens. As far as I know, they are still available: 1 black
male, 1 black female (probably going to Vivian :^), and 1 tuxedo male.
I've been on vacation for a week, so I'm waiting to hear from Kim to
see if she's still looking for homes for the babies. I think she's
reserving the two males for me, but I can't take them until I find a
new place to live. If, in the meantime, I can find other homes for
them, I would be perfectly happy to give them up. (Then I can rescue
some kitty(ies) from a shelter or someone who is desperate to find
homes for abandoned kitties.)

37.59Looking for Siamese, female, kittenJULIET::CORDES_JAFour Tigers on My CouchWed Jul 01 1992 18:1225
A friend of mine has been resistant to getting a new kitty since her
Siamese kitty she'd had for years passed on last summer. Suddenly
she finds herself at home, bedridden with two broken legs and wanting
company; feline company.

She has a specific type of cat in mind. Hopefully, someone here has
information that will lead to her acquiring this kitty. In addition
to this note, I have a call in to my resident kitty expert (sister Jo).

Specifics:	Kitty should be female, Siamese (apple-head type)
She would prefer a blue-point but would consider seal-point
8-10 weeks of age approximately
Sweet disposition is important

She is located in San Jose, California. She is aware that there will
money involved if kitty comes from a breeder. I couldn't tell her what
the going rate is for Siamese kittens these days since I'm not up on
that information.

Rather than post her info here, I'm asking that you contact me for her
name and phone number.

Re: 37.59

I took the cat book over to my friend to show her the Tonkinese breed.
She wasn't completely thrilled but spent some time flipping through
the pages on the various breeds. She has decided that she could be
happy with a couple of other breeds if we can't locate and the old
style Siamese we're looking for. She could be happy with either an
Oriental Shorthair (she fell in love with the picture of a black
Oriental Shorthair with green eyes that was in the book, I think it
reminded her of the cat Catwoman had in the Batman movie) or an Ocicat.

According to the book, both of these cats have Siamese somewhere in
their background and that is part of what appeals to her since she
feels that she is less allergic to the Siamese type cats than other
cats. They also have the sleek, short fur that she is looking for.

If anyone knows of anyone that has a pet quality kitten in any of
these breeds, please contact me at DTN 521-3311 (408-496-3311) or

Jan,

there is a group dedicated to the apple-headed siamese....I remember they
were entered here in the conference (a couple of years ago?) and should be
listed in some note (if it isn't deleted). IF your friend is serious, look
for this organization. I'm sure the kittens are not that expensive as they
are, by definition, NOT show quality conformation...(but, I like them).

The oriental shorthairs are not inexpensive - at least, when I was calling
around prior to getting The Flash, I was hearing $400+ prices...for pet
quality...combined with their potential for digestive problems, I went for
the Javanese instead - healthier, sturdier, and, for pet quality, slightly
less expensive.

Source of phone numbers for breeds - back of Cat Fancy and Cats magazines...
interview carefully before buying.

Dian,

Thanks for the info. She called me again this morning wanting to know
if I have found anything yet (she asked me last night too). I've given
her the pages from the back of Cat Fancy but most of the breeders are
out of state. I'll check FELINE-V1 and see if I can find anything.

She had a discussion with her daughter and husband and the general
consensus is that they want to stick to a Siamese (apple-head type).
So, we're calling all the rescue organizations in the area to see if
they've taken in any siamese-type kitties recently. She had a number
for someone local that she found in one of the papers but she can't
seem to find it now. She's not mobile enough to go looking for it
so she has to wait till hubby gets home. So, everyone keep their
ears/eyes open in case they run across a 8-12 week, female, apple-head
siamese. (All the breeders we're familier with in the area breed to
the standard and that standard is too extreme for this person.)

37.66Looking to adopt an AbyssinianBROKE::GERHARDTTue Jul 07 1992 13:4631
Hi All,

Its been quite awhile (just about three years since I have had
a chance to look at the feline notes file). It probably would
have been longer, but I am looking to purchase an Abyssinian
kitten or adult as a companion for my 9 year old Aby/Manx (yes, I know
it quite a combo) "RALPH". He had been without a companion, since
"NORTON" got lost over two years ago. Since then, I have had two
children and RALPH "my first child" gets less attention from me.. and
he does not hesitate to remind me or my husband that he is NUMERO UNO!

Anyway, before I ramble on I am looking for any pointers to Abyssinian
Breeders or perhaps someone knows where I can find a Aby for sale. Last
time I checked it was difficult, since Abys are not known to have large
litters and usually they are all spoken for... However, I am willing
to wait! and..Adults make such good companions, I never see someone
posting an adoption notice...

I am not looking for any specific gender, (but I would prefer
a male) and I am not looking for show or breeding quality.

Thanks in advance!

My friend needs a barn cat. She had two, but one took off and the
remaining one is very lonely.

What she wants is an adult cat which likes to be outside. This cat
will live in the barn (no going inside the house - allergies). The
cat will share the barn with horses and a german shephard, so the
cat MUST be able to deal with other cats and dogs. This location is
in a remote section of Uxbridge, MA with acres and acres of fields and
forests. Good home guaranteed (all health maintainance continues...).

The other requirement is the at must be spayed or neutered. Non
neutered cats may be considered, however knowing my friends current

Pick ups could be in Uxbridge, Westboro, Northboro or MA/RI border.

I have a co-worker friend of mine, that has a spayed adult female

My guess is that the current cat might accept a kitty easier than

This *probably* doesn't belong in the "adopt" note but I'll give it a
shot:

I would like to adopt a BLUE-POINT Siamese FEMALE kitten. I currently
have two cats whom I love but would like to add this particular breed.

History: When I was 4 years old, my neighbor had a stray cat. I went
to find it and found a BEAUTIFUL 1 yr old (approx) Blue point siamese.
After trying to find her owners, we adopted her and named her
"Princess". She lived for 18 years and was the most incredible cat
I've ever owned. She was very calm and accepting. (She let me dress
her up in doll clothes and push her in a baby carriage!) While I
certainly wouldn't allow that to happen to any cat I own now, I would
be looking for a Siamese used to children and other animals.

I am now in a living environment where more cats would be welcomed and
very much loved.

Please let me know if you know of anyone with this particulat breed. I
would be willing to pay a small amount but could not afford the
"regular" purebred fees.

Thanks
37.81Adult Declawed Kitty Wanted For Gramma!RDVAX::FAUST_CLANCY"In God We Trust, Others Pay Cash"Mon Nov 02 1992 11:5622
I am the proud owner of a cat by the name of Molly. Molly's grandmother
lives in Pennsylvania and would love to have a kitty just like Molly. I
am currently in the market for a cat that looks (and hopefully acts) A LOT
like our loveable, gray-striped, white-vested double-pawed Molly..... any
chance that someone may know a cat that wants to re-locate to Pennsylvania??

My husband and I are driving to Pittsburgh over the Thanksgiving holidays and
plan to take a kitty for Gramma.

I would like suggestions from folk as to where to go to get a mature cat that
is already declawed as a housepet for my mother. She will be an excellent cat
owner as she cooked special meals for Molly when she was here visiting. I have
heard that cats (really any pets) are good for elderly persons as it helps keep
down their bloodpressure and gives them some special joy every day.

If anyone knows of a stray that isn't too wild, or a humane society that I
could contact, I would be happy to follow up on suggestions.

thanks all,

Debra

Debra, I am sorry I don't have a cat of this type for you. But... I
just wanted to tell you that I think it is a wonderful idea. I got my
grandmother a cat a couple of years ago and it made all the difference
in the world to her. A word of caution; I don't know how old your mom
is but cats can live for about 20 years. If she is elderly at all, you
will need to consider who will care for the cat when your mom can't.
This could be as simple as you taking the cat back or finding another
suitable home. I have just gone through this so I know what I am
talking about! Write me off line if you have any questions.

I lost my Ebony on September 18th and although I'm still not over his
loss, I think I may be ready to get another 'son'. Ivory hasn't been
the same since he left and I think she needs a brother/friend - my
husband and I are in and out a lot, often leaving her home alone. When
we return it's just so sad to see her run to the door for some
affection.

I'm not sure how she'd react to another kitty (she's 8 years old, but
never knew life without Eb), but I'd like to give it a chance.

I'm specifically looking for:

- Male Kitten (7-10 wks or as soon as they can leave mom)

- Can't be an all black kitty (Ebony was black and NO ONE
will ever take his place, plus I don't want to confuse Ivory)

- Short/medium hair (Ivory has enough hair for 10 cats)

- Color: perhaps grey or a cute grey tiger (?)

Well, I'm not asking for too much am I......there's no rush, I'll wait

Barbara, you are too much! I was in the same predicament almost a year
ago and had the ideal description of my next cat all planned. My
husband insisted that he (we wanted a male) be short haired and I had
my heart set on an Abyssinian but we ended up with not one but two
cats, both long haired (one male, one female). Just goes to show that
you don't pick the cat! It's the other way around - the cat picks you.
Be forewarned. :^)

Ivory would most likely welcome a playmate with open arms, or is that
paws? Like Sandy Merritt says "nothing beats seeing two cats curled up
together and grooming one another". Once you start having those "time
to get another cat" thoughts you know the time is right.... Nothing
will ever replace Ebony but you'll be amazed at your ability to love
another animal all over again. We'll all be on the lookout to help you
find another special cat!

Barbara,

I read your mail that you may be looking for a Gray cat. There is a pet store
in Marlboro that had some kittens left on their doorstep last week. I was there
a couple of days ago and they had 3 gray ones. They were giving them away free.
They look fairly young and my guess is that they just left the mother.

Cheryl,
When I was going through the file, your note showed up twice, but now
it's there only once. I've had this happen to me before due to some
glitch in the system. Anyway, I've deleted my note about it.

It's a given that all cats come with a can opener, isn't it? Last I
heard the Pat Brody shelter was giving out one with every cat adopted
during the month of November.
37.98MAGEE::MERRITTKitty CityThu Nov 12 1992 15:498
I can just picture it now....a person walks in and adopts a cat.
They finish the paperwork....bundle the cat up...and asks Priscilla
for their can opener!!!

Now Cheryl...with 70 cats at the shelter...we only have one can
opener!!

Sandy
37.99SPEZKO::RAWDENThu Nov 12 1992 15:547
Yes, but that one can opener touches cat food only, not people food. I
won't disgress this topic into a note about remnants of food being
stuck on that little "wheel" of the can opener.

Well Sandy, the shelters in California give out a can opener with each
cat adoption. It's the newest rage. Tell Priscilla to get with the
program. :^)

That's exactly what happened to me in another notefile! I replied, but
my note didn't show up, so I replied again, and then there were two.
When I deleted one, they both disappeared and another noter's note was

Since my husband and I are traveling over the Thanksgiving holiday (a

Ken, I'll definitely check out that pet store in Marlboro.

I'll also check out the local shelters, but I'm a little leary of those

Barbara...if your really worried about bringing home a sick kitty...
you could have the same issues if you were to get the cat from
a Pet Store, Shelter, via this file, or even picking up a cat
from a neighbor.

I would suggest that prior to bringing the new kitty in your
home that you have your own vet check the cat out and provide all
the tests. Unless of course you can find a kitty and the parents
provide you with detail medical records stating when the last
time he was tested for all the major disease/worms as well as when
his last Rabies/Booster shots were. I would not take this information
just via word of mouth either...I would want the medical records
in my hand.

Just a suggestion...

37.108Wanted: two female, Siamese kittensTNPUBS::BDAYDinsdale ... Dinsdale!Sun Dec 06 1992 18:2217
I would like two female, Siamese kittens - seal, blue, or chocolate point.
Littermates would be ideal. I used to breed and show blue points many years
ago and am NOT looking for 'show quality'. Would actually prefer an
'apple head' or 'round head' from a long line of 'apple heads' or 'round
heads': ie not rejects from a 'show quality' litter.

My 12-year-old neutered blue point is lonely since my Maine Coon died
at the age of 18 two months ago and it's time to start again.

I've always had cats (usually Siamese) and they will be totally spoiled
and well cared for in Southern New Hampshire.

If you have any, know of any, or can reccommend a good cattery, please
let me know.

thanks/ben

David,

First, a Rex is not a big cat! Especially not 15 lbs!!!

For big cats, try a Brittish Shorthair or a Maine Coon. If you'd like
some info on these types of breeds, write off line and I'll give you
some names of breeders.

I'm starting my search for a new kitty! I figured since people try to give
their cats to new homes on the net, I'd see if I can find one through here.
I am looking for a female (a kitten would be okay, but I'm hoping for more
of an adolescent or young adult). I already have 2 black & white, neutered
males, about 4 yrs old, so I want a tri-color, tortoise shell, or calico.
I live in central Massachusetts, but would be willing to go some distance
for the right kitty (i'd travel just about anywhere in Mass, RI, southern
NH). The cat would be indoor only, and I will not declaw, though a I would
adopt a declawed kitty. If anyone knows of someone trying to get rid of
kittens or a cat somewhat like I described, please send me e-mail or give
me a call.

I am looking for a cat for my mother. She recently moved to New
Hampshire from Flordia and she is living on her own. My sister and I
would like to find a cat for her to keep her company. We are looking
for the following:

An adult or older kitten
Blue-Point Siamese Female
Cat will be indoor only
No need for "Show quality"
Must have an even temperment
Must be adaptable to other cats/homes
Must be able to adapt to a dog

I know this is alot to ask but there will be times when the cat will
come stay at my house with my cats and dog. A female Blue-point is the
MOST desired but another variety of Siamese would be considered. We
had a blue-point Siamese for about 18 years and she was my mom's all
time favorite cat.

This cat will be treated as ROYALTY. My mom is a cat fanatic.

I realize that all cats have different personalities but are there some

more interactive than many cats (like mine) who'd rather sleep and eat.

Yup, the PBS is at the top of the list. What I was kind of hoping to
learn was if there was one breed of cat more than another that might
fit the bill.

Hello Cat-People,

I did not find a "cats wanted" note; please move this if I entered it
in the wrong place.

One of my cats, Tiggie, left this world last month. I'm looking for a
new kitten to join our family, which consists of:
2 humans
1 playful cat-loving dog (Vak) (he kept looking for Tiggie, and waiting
for her to come in, for weeks after her death).
1 11-year old neutered male cat (Duncan)
18 tropical fish (in a cat-proof tank).

I want a kitten because Tiggie had a very hard time adapting to the
dog, and I have heard that kittens generally adapt easily to dogs.

I would like a short haired tiger striped female, that does not drool
when she purrs (one feature of Tiggie that I was not fond of!).
Short haired is very important; I do not want a cat
that needs regular grooming. I'm assuming that a female would get
along better with our male cat; if it won't really matter than I don't
care if the kitten is male or female. Also, the kitten must be at
least 8 weeks old before leaving home, which I understand to be the
proper time for leaving the Mom cat. This is my biggest reservation
about shelters; a kitten that left home at 4 weeks never becomes a normal
cat. If I have the timing wrong here please let me know.

Our cats are allowed outside, although we
do keep them in when it is very cold or the snow is deeper than their
legs. We don't have a cat-door, but Vak, the dog, is the cat's door
attendant. In the winter, we don't always here a cat meowing at the door.
Vak does, and makes sure that a human gets up and attends to the cat
ASAP. So the kitten will never be left outside waiting for someone to
notice her meows. In the summer we leave a window open for the cats.

I didn't notice any kittens meeting this description in the adoption
note. If there really aren't any right now, I'll try the Nashua Animal
Shelter next week.

Thanks,
Margaret.

A couple of thoughts on reading your note,

having the dog and kitten get along: another approach to
meeting that concern is to get a cat that is already used
to dogs -- while kittens certainly are more flexible in
adjusting their attitude, that doesn't guarantee that they'll
adjust. Maybe a dog-friendly cat would do even better?

shelter cats: I have been a foster parent for the Pat
Brody Shelter (in Lunenburg, MA) and I haven't returned
any kittens to them for adoption until they were at least
8 weeks old, and actually closer to 9 weeks. They go off
to the vet for their first shots and aren't available for
adoption until some time after that. I wouldn't think
4 weeks old is a "typical" age for shelter kittens to be
adopted, although I'm sure exceptions occur.

Good luck in your search, I'm sure we'll all help!

Hi,

I just lost my kitty of 1 1/2 years and am heart broken. I miss her
terribly but also miss the comotion in the house!

I am looking for two kittens, at least 7-8 weeks old, preferably medium
to long haired and dark (grey, tiger, blackish, etc.).

I live in a two story house with a full cellar and porch so there will
be plenty of play space!

If you know of anyone who has these types of kitties I'd love to know.
I have checked the humane society closest to me and will continue to.

If you aren't too far away, come check out the Framingham Humane
Society in Framingham, MA on Sunday between 1:00 and 4:00. I know
of a volunteer who has a litter of tiger kittens she is fostering.
You can also write her offline at DLNVAX::PALMER. This is the
person fostering these kittens. Her name is Lenora. She's pretty
wonderful. She can give you more details.

Lenora had two black kittens left when I left the shelter last Sunday.
They had medium long to long hair and are wonderful! Lenora is a GREAT

Okay, it's been long enough; after 18 years with the most beautiful,
unique, loving (I could go on for pages, but I won't bore you) cat
in the world, I couldn't even consider another when I had to let her
go three years ago (kidney failure). Now I'm ready for another, and
since I've found both of my dogs through the DOGS notesfile, where
better to look for my next cat than here?

I'm looking for a short-to-medium hair female, preferably a Russian
Blue or clone (all grey!), but I'm not locked into that breed. Actually,
I had thought a Maine Coon would be neat to have at some point - my
Beagle needs to be put in her place every now and then ;-).

I don't have my heart set on a kitten, in fact it might be easier
to take on a grown cat (but not too old - I don't want to go through
that loss again for a long time). I live in Newburyport, Mass., and
it's just me and the two dogs in the house.

I know she's out there somewhere, I'm just waiting to meet her!

Sandy's asked me to ask you all if anyone knows of a Himalayan (or

an hour's drive of Marlborough is worthy of consideration. "Kitten"
means less than six months old, and the younger the better (within
reason).

I guess she's decided that it's not fair that I'm having all the fun

37.154Looking for new kittenPOWDML::MACINTYREWed Oct 06 1993 10:4929
I am looking for a new kitten to be a companion for my 1.5 yr old Jazz.
Jazz is a fluffy white male with light brown markings around the face,
ears and tail. He's a mix of (I think) Himalayian and American
shorthair.

We want a cat with similar coloring and probably a female. The
coloring is because since Jazz is white all our dark clothes show his
hair and if we got a dark cat all our light clothes would show hair.

Gender is not esssential to me but my wife thinks a female would be a
good choice.

Other than the usual getting along stuff is there an issue with putting
a new male kitten in with a mature male -vs- a new female kitten
joining our household?

I'm reluctant to go look in a shelter since most of the cats are older
and I don't want to fall in love with a kitty that wouldn't suit my
wife. Jazz has turned into "my" cat and my wife wants one for her own.
Jazz like her fine but he comes running when I pull in, he hangs out
with me, lets me hold and brush him...

Any free kittens that fit this situation?

Thanks,

A few suggestions::::

o if you can't find a kitty via the file. Bring your wife to
a shelter and have a kitty pick her. At this time of year
there are many kittens at shelters that are in desparate need
of a home and believe me one kitty will choose her!!! I'm not
sure where you live but if you let us know I'm sure we can
direct you to a close shelter.

o If your interested in a Siamese mix (tan with dark points) please
read note 4.523. Fido needs a good home......

Yes, as Sandy mentioned, there are many kitten s att he shelters right
now.

As of last Thursday, Framingham Humane had a delightful little white
guy that is shaped exactly like a Siamese, and has the blue eyes. His
name is Chip, and he's probably about 5 months old right now, but still
definitely a kitten. He's one of my favorites (as you can probably
tell) and I know he would love to have a new home soon.

I'm answering here, even though I have a feeling this note will be
moved, in case the original noter is only checking this note number
before being notified. ;-)

I think my shelter may have a couple of fluffy siamese mix also. I

I've decided that my little girl Spooks needs a companion. She
hasn't taken well to Henry's absence (see note 617) as they were
best buddies. My other cat is much older and while they co-exist
relatively peacefully, she really needs a playmate. I've put together
a list of wants below. Most are negotiable as I'm a sap when it
comes to cats that need homes. The ones that aren't negotiable
(such as age) aren't because I don't like older cats - but because
Diesel won't take kindly to being anything less than the reining
monarch ;-)

- Age - As young as possible. I'd really like to find a kitten
that's just 8 weeks or even less. The best kitty I ever had
was one that was only 4 weeks old and had to be dropper-fed
for a while. I'd love to find a little guy who needs a Mom.

- Sex - preferably male. This is negotiable but I feel a male
would fit into the current scheme of things more easily.

- Color - I've seen beautiful kitties in every cat-shade
imaginable but my least favorites are orange and calico.
I love tigers, black & white, grey, whatever.

- Fur - Prefer long hair, but doesn't really matter.

- I'd like to find a kitty that really 'needs' a home. There
was one at the Humane Society which was adopted before I got in
touch with them that was 6 weeks old and had been burned (I don't
know how) - he just struck me as a little guy who really needed a
home and a fresh start on life.

I have a lovely Himalayan female kitten available. She is solid black with
great big beautiful copper eyes. She has all her kitten shots, rabies shots,
feline Lukemia shot and is in perfect health, so there won't be any added
expenses for vet bill and kitten shots. She's 14 weeks old now and really

A friend of mine is looking for a Burmese. She lost her 13 year old
Burmese to bowel cancer about 6 months ago. She would prefer a female,
but either kitten or cat is fine. She would be happy finding one that
needed a home (from a shelter). Any leads are most appreciated!

Brian,

Check out the Pat Brody Shelter for Cats. They are in Lunenburg, not
too far from Worcester. I got my 3 "brats" from there, and they are
little buzzsaws (purrers) full of love for EVERYONE. The cats/kittens
at PB are all in a communal living area (actually 2, one for kittens
and one for cats) so they are use to having other cats around.

There is a note in here about PBS, 17.*. You can get the phone number
and the names of a couple volunteers from that note.

I HIGHLY recommend PBS for Cats.

You might also check with Sandy Graeff in Charlton.... Sandy's rescue
operation is known as "Purrfect Pets", and that's where we got our
little black beauty, "Peppurr". Sandy doesn't have a large number of
animals up for adoption, but she may have something that fits your
need. Sandy has a $25.00 fee which we found to be very reasonable, and
if the animal is not spayed/neutered, she asks for a commitment to have
this done. She also has low-cost spay/neuter sources that she can and
will refer you to if needed.
We got Peppurr as an 8-9 week old kitten, and she's a real super
cat...coal black with golden eyes... Her and one of my Beagles, "Sam",
are best buddies, and it's a panic to watch them play with each

While it is great that you plan to provide plenty of love, warmth and
food, are you also committed to giving the cats the appropriate
vaccines like distemper and rabies (especially rabies; it's endemic
in some areas and outdoor cats require this vaccine; in fact, it's a
law in some states now), but more important, *spay and neuter* them?
Cats reproduce at an incredible rate and it is even more devastating
when close inbreeding is involved, which will happen if these cats are
left to breed at random. There is a reason why shelters require a
spay/neuter deposit, and they are not profiting from such a request.

"Free" kittens are not necessarily free. Many free kittens do not have
the appropriate vaccines, so be prepared for some "start-up" costs.

If you do manage to find a mom/litter, I do hope your wife and daughter
plan to spay and neuter the cats to prevent adding to the already
unmanageable overpopulation problem our country has. Maybe you have
already decided this and if so, I apologize for sounding crass, but
your request struck a nerve as I have a very negative view of "barn
cats."

Roberta, Thank you for your reply, I read the same message in the
original request. As a responsible pet owner, if .0 gets a
mom cat and kittens, it will cost way over $25.00 to give
all kittens their shots and follow up on spay nuetur.
If one is not willing to do this, there should be other methods
of getting rid of mice.

37.190No replacement, just particularDECWET::PAINTERWed Jun 29 1994 16:3139
I am looking for a particular 'breed' of cat. (Actually a related
cat, to a fine friend that a particularly nasty ex-neighbor dropped
off 10-15 miles from my house a year and a half ago the day after
X-Mas)

I am looking for a 'kin' to my cat Pumpkin, who had the following
characteristics: She was polydactyl (sp?) with opposable (two) thumbs
on each front paw (she had an extra joint that kitties normally don't
have on thier dew claws), she was a calico (real patchy/streaky), She
had a sense of humor (really, she would tickle me with her nose to hear
me laugh, she would most often do this while I was driving!!! And she
would wake me on snowy cold rainy mornings by standing on my
chest until the blankets soaked through, when I started, she would give
me a head butt and prance away... fond memories ...)

Any way to cut to the chase, I am out in WA doing contract work for DEC
and was hoping to find someone who visits the Nashua/Hudson/Salem
Humane societies or the So. NH shelters to find a likely kitten/young
calico polydactyl (female in case you hit the one in 3000 male calico,
I am allergic to male cats) in the hopes of finding a related cat.
Pumpkin was a stray that was rescued as she cleaned herself on the
double yellow lines of a road in front of an elementary school. We
advertised her no one claimed her, and I fell in love with her. Her
family is in the prodigious-fast_breeder catagory (we took her in to
be fixed, and the vet said she was expecting, we took her in before she
weaned her kittens, and the vet said she was expecting ... we put her
on house arrest until she was fixed! And as a friend said, there is no
such thing as a free kitten, each litter cost us about $200 to 'give
away' after shots and 'starter kits' ... But they are worth it!). I
still have several of her offspring and they 'play well with others' so
the prospective new one would be neither unloved, bored, or lonely.

If someone finds a likely prospect, I'll be happy to make the
arrangements to welcome them to the West coast (or wherever the next
contract takes me, but I kinda like it here :-)

Thanks for listening,
John

My former spouse has our two cats (Holly and Felix), and she's going to be
moving at the end of this week. She plans to take Felix, but unless I can
find a good home for Holly, she'll be putting Holly "to sleep".

I'm currently living in a Hotel and can't take her myself, but the thought
of having her killed is absolutely heart wrenching.

Holly is a petite female Calico. She's a clean indoor cat, and has an adorable
personality. We got her as a kitten the year we were married (1980), and
I think that the former Mrs just needs to purge herself of that memory.

I have until this Saturday morning to find a new home for her, and I'm feeling
more than just a bit desperate.

Please help if you can.

Thanks,

Kitten Wanted - My 19year old son has been looking for a Rust & Cream
color "kitten" for 4months and has had no luck in finding one. His
birthday is coming up in April and the kitten is the only present he
has asked for. Of course it must be Free(the humane society wants $80
which we cannot afford), it must have short hair, and he loves the Rust
& Cream colors (or as he puts it-"just so it is adorable"). Our last
cat (Cuddles) died last fall and my son has missed him terribly. The
kitten would have a wonderful home with a loving family to care for it.

Not to sound harsh here...
It would be cheaper to pay the 80 dollars at the shelter. Usually
the kitty comes with a health check up and shots. a "free" kitty
can run you over 100 dollars for shots and check ups, let alone
is it in good health. There are no free things in this world anymore
sorry to say.

I'm not sure if this applies, but often the cost of adopting from
a shelter includes low cost spay and neuter and will save you money
in the long run.

37.207USCTR1::MERRITT_SKitty CityWed Mar 22 1995 12:597
I have to agree that there is NO such thing as a free kitten and
normally the adoption fee covers the medical costs that you would be
spending if you brought them to the vets yourself.

re. .0

Unless you are looking for a particular color for breeding, the color of
the kitty does not make any difference in the "lovability". I understand
the color preference, but just going by color, you may miss out on some
awesome companions. Some of the most intelligent and affectionate breeds
don't come in rust and cream. Offhand, I can only think of 2 shorthair
breeds that come in that color, tabbies and Japanese bobtails, even then
these 2 breeds tend to be tri-colored, black, rust and cream. I recommend
going with the most affectionate and healthy kitty you can find. Color
is fur deep.

$80 is actually pretty cheap, the first 3 vet checkups and shots can run
over $200 total. If money is an issue, a young neutered cat from the
shelter could be a better choice, since neutering cost around $70.

Eva

37.209Stuffed animals maybe?SALEM::SHAWWed Mar 22 1995 13:5719

The three cats we adopted cost $50.00 and they had had all their
tests and one was alreay spayed, they other two they told us were
spayed/nuetered but it turn out they weren't, the shelter however
payed for that cost later on. This was over a year ago so with the
rise in expenses I don't realy think $80 is much considering the
owner was responsible enough to take the *free* kitten for a
checkup and spay/nueter in the future.
I have also seen poeple that adopt animals and never bother about
FIV, FIL testing and shots and sapy/nuter.
What one should consider is when you adopt an animal you are
responsible for it's well being and health, vet visits and sometimes
even surgery and unexpected expenses. So in my opinion and this is just
my opinion please no-one take offense, if one cannot afford $80.00
for all the services provided, then maybe one should get a stuffed
animal that will not require additional expense.

I'm with Shaw. The original note doesn't make me think that the
kitty will be well-cared for. "Free" kittens in the San Jose area
are going to run $110 for tests and vaccinations (IF you get a good
kitten plan) and another $100 for spay/neuter (a little high, but it
includes the blood panel). C.A.R.E. kitties come a little cheaper
ddepending on age and number of remaining vaccinations and shelter
kitties are a real bargain.

To the original noter: please rethink whether you can really afford
a cat right now.

The thing that bothers me most about this notesfile is the sanctimonious,
self-righteous attitude of some (not all) of the contributors. Thank God I
didn't have to be examined to determine my "rightness" for cat ownership.
I'm sure I wouldn't have measured up. And, four kitties wouldn't be enjoying

Well I am sorry if you got offended. But volunteering at a shelter
and having to deal with a lot of returned animals my sympathy is
with the animals not the humans. The way I saw it is this, if a
person cannot afford the $80.00 then what this transalets to, is
the cat will not be spayed/nuetered, it will not get its annual
vet visits etc. 'cause all of the above will cost more than
$80.00. I am not preaching or anything like that. Just speaking from
my own personal experience.

Well, time for my 2 cents worth. I'm going to start by saying I agree
with Jan.

I've actually exchanged mail with the person that is looking for the
kitten (here was a cat at my vets office that met the specs the noter asked
for except that they were looking for a kitten). Anyhow, based on the
mail, *I* think that this family would be ideal to adopt a kitten. I
think that the kitten will get a lot of love from a family that has had
cats for years and wants another cat in there life, but maybe just
doesn't have a lot of spare money right now.

Shaw,

Let's say she gets an 8 week old kitten. First round of
shots will probably cost in the vicinity of $30 give or
take a few. The kitten doesn't need to be spayed/neutered
for another 6-9 months. In that period of time, either she
or her son have the opportunity to save up that amount of
money to pay for the operation. IMO, I still think you're
being a bit harsh. I too talked to her via e-mail (as I
said, I know her personally) and she has done her fair
share of helping unwanted/dumped cats. There is no doubt
in my mind whatsoever that a cat owned by her and her family
will be a happy, healthy kitty.

And FWIW, I also volunteered at a shelter but my opinion
still stands.

I think we are not in the business to judge who should or should not
have animals. All we can do is to present the facts/info/experience/
options and let the noter decide for herself what is best for her
situation, IMO. There are happy cats in all walks of life and there
were happy cats before there were vet visits and cat supplies. IMO,
cats are completely self-sufficient, they don't need us to survive.

Well, I'm flabergasted! I honestly had no intention of stirring up such
harsh feelings and raw emotion. Let me offer a few words of explanation.

I am: 1. A person who has taken in two starving/abandoned cats in the
last 8 years; fed them, gotten them vacinnated, examined, and
had surgery done on them when needed.
2. A person who loved both of her cats dearly and spent hours
spoon feeding and holding them when they were ill. I grew them
their own catnip plants and made them very special beds too.
3. A person who does not let others torment animals.
4. A very poor person-yes poor- who's colledge educated husband
has been unemployed for almost a year (and she still wants a
kitten????). Yup! That's right.
You see, my family and I know that many people do not have
their pets neutered; have unwanted litters, and throw these
beautiful animals in the woods, etc. We would love to offer
a home to one of them, because; we are a family with much
love. And by pooling our money we have always managed to get
shots, etc. for our cats (a little at a time).
5. A person who cares for all forms of life....even yours.

So please, please don't pass judgement on people...that's why our
society is in such a mess right now. I know that all of your hearts
are in the right place but you can't always know where people are
coming from. Have a little trust in humanity! Cheers

If only that were true! One of the worst myths is that cats can
survive on their own. I'm doing full-time consulting for one of
our customers. They lease Stanford property in the hills and we
have lots of wildlife, including cats that have been dumped. (I
know they've been dumped because we have pure-bred Siamese out
here with the rest of the mixed kitties.) Unfortunately, FeLV
has hit the population. Some kitties have been mangled in car
motors where they hide for warmth. Some are in fairly poor shape
from fighting or cancer. Others are road-kill or dinner for the
wildlife. And they depend on the kindness of employees for food
and fresh water.

I know this is off the subject of the original issue, but 70% of
the animals adopted in our county are abandoned. It makes me
physically ill. And I'm not sure how questioning a commitment is
tantamount to being sanctimonious -- reality for most kitties stinks.

I am sorry but I can't agree with you. If humans don't interfer
with feline lives, like separating kittens from their mothers and
littermates before they learn their life skills, like declawing them, like
keeping them inside the house all the time, like transplanting them to car
and disease ridden areas, cats can survive and have always survived in the
wild. Only when humans stunt the kittens development that they grow into
cats that cannot fend for themselves.

I *do* agree with .219. If humans "don't interfere with" felis
DOMESTICUS, they are domesticated animals in a shrinking, increasingly
hostile "wild" and are subject to all the ills (rabies, etc.) and
wretched attrition of the truly wild animals who are starving in

I don't want to get into a rathole, but cats would not be living
in crowded areas if humans don't bring them there and abondone them.
The cats population will regulate itself like the rest of the living
things on this planet, except for humans who invented all kinds of
interventions. The domesticated cats are not less equipped than their
wild cousins.

Eva
37.224Sorry, I got a little winded here!PCBUOA::FALLONMon Mar 27 1995 12:5934
I feel I need to say something here. It has turned into a rathole, but
it is sparking too many feelings with all the noters.

This world, such as "we" have made it, is what it is. Many animals,
plants, etc. are losing because of choices "we" make. Cats as we know
them cannot survive the wild for long. As stated in previous notes,
there is disease, there are cars, there are larger animals that are
carnivors. The domestic cat is just what it has been made. They
were adapted thousands of years ago, not by us recently. (key word
here is domestic)

They cannot survive for more than a couple (give or take) years in the
wild, no matter how they get there. It is proven, that an indoor
cat can live a healthy, happy life for around 20 years with proper
feeding and medical care. How can that be compared to the "happiness"
of an outside cat? Those that have to brave cold, rain, snow and
all the other garbage out there. It is really enjoyable to see a kitty
dying of malnutrition because it ate a mouse and now has worms or
toxoplasmosis. Great food, huh!?

Let's have the humans regulate themselves. No more medicine, no
vaccines, no cancer treatment. Hey for that matter, grow your own
food and see how far some of us get! We would start to drop like
flies. This earth has become what we have made of it. It is best
to take responsibility where needed.

We need to make a choice, Pets or NO Pets. How many of us could not
get another when ol' buffy dies?? That is one of the "hidden agendas"
of the animal rights people. Be smart on your choices and think
in terms of reality not ideals. This world IS reality. Take good
care of things you love, and they will take care of you.

Ok, this is my last reply in this rathole, since there is a basic difference
in our views. Humans have come very far, 50,000+ years, and always had their
own medicines. Another animals the same way. Native Americans understand
that wild animals know how to take care of themselves, including eating
stuff to cure themselves. That's reason why cats eat grass occasionally,
to make themselves throw up. Humans had been and still observe and learn
from other animals, since they've been around longer than we do. From
my perspective, human interventions in the modern way basically degrade the
gene pools in some cases, by allowing weak and defective genes to propagate
and create super drug resistant strains of diseases. In the short run,
we seem to have improved the quality of life, but in the long run, our
modern practices *may be* detrimental in to the survival of different
species.

I understand taking responsibility in our actions, however, we need to
realize that we, humans, are at the bottom of the totem pole, not the
other way around. There are still alot of things we don't understand.
Thousands of years is a nothing compared to the big time line.
What is the "human" difference between an Egyptian mummy and us? None.
There are still humans, living in the "wild", in Australia, Borneo,
in S. America, Central America, the Middle East, in Mongolia, in Asia and
not too long ago in N. America.

Enough of this, I won't go any further, since philosophical differences
cannot be easily resolved.

I certainly wouldn't blame the "new noter" here if she never wrote in
this notesfile again. To her defense, there is nothing wrong if she/her son
wants a particular color kitten. Many of us prefer a certain breed, and I
imagine it's understood she also would like a healthy, loving kitten.
She doesn't have the $80 for a kitten now, but saves up and provides the
cat with the medical attention it needs. It sounds like a very loving
household to bring a cat into. Cats do not survive well on their own, no
one can convince me otherwise. I was feeding Gypsy's family outside, all but
one have seemed to disappear. The kittens would be about 1 1/2 years old by
now, not a very long, happy life I.M.O.

I didn't want to contribute to this rathole, but those of you who
criticized should open up your eyes and be a bit more understanding. Ask
for more facts instead of just assuming and not be so quick to judge!

We adopted a kitten from the Pat Brody shelter a couple of years ago
and had no problem with Priscilla when I said on the application form
that the kitten (Princess Jasmine) would be going out when she was old
enough. As we had two other cats which are indoor/outdoor I felt that
it would be difficult to make sure just one stayed in.

As it turned out, Princess is an indoor only cat by HER choice. She is
extremely loving (on HER terms, of course) with the family but is the
stereotypical "scardy-cat" around strangers, unknown animals, etc. She
sits by the door and watches her two older sisters outside but jumps
away from the door as soon as it is opened. As she is now 2 years old
and has never touched a blade of grass, we don't even try to encourage
her to go outside. She still gets rabies and FELEUK shots as she is
around the other two cats all the time.

I would just talk to Priscilla if you decide to check out the cats at
Brody's.

have turned down an adopted parent because they wanted an outside

37.248Female double-pawed kitten wantedMTWASH::COBURNPlan B FarmThu Oct 19 1995 16:4722
Kitten wanted:

We have just lost our approx 13 year old cat (to FIV - and yes, we have
been assured by the vet that a new kitten entering the household will
be in no danger of contracting now that the carrier-cat is gone).

We're looking to adopt a new kitten. We'd like a female, and would
LOVE a double-pawed girl. We want to start with a baby, 6 - 10 weeks
old.

We have one other 7 year old neutered male cat (who has been tested for
FIV and is defineatly negative and was strictly seperated from the sick
cat as soon as the problem was determined). We also have a 8 yr old
neutered male German Shepard who is very friendly, affectionate,
playful, and wonderful with cats, as well as two horses. We offer an
excellent, loving, experienced, and permanent home in the country.

Located in Weare NH, will travel within reasonable distance.

Please send mail to doovax::coburn if you know of any female
double-paws. Thanks!

KITTEN WANTED:

Must be the time of year. We haven't had any luck finding a kitten
in local shelters/vets. We are looking for a short-haired female, 6 -
12 weeks old. Breed/color completely meaningless. We offer an
experienced country home with a 4 yr old neutered male cat who loves other
cats and is very good natured, a German Shepard who grew up with cats
and loves to kiss their faces, and 2 horses. This new kitten will be
spayed asap, obviously, and will live the indoor/outdoor as she chooses

Must be free. :-)

It's really considered off-season for kittens...but if you
wait one or two more months...believe me there will be
zillions of homeless kittens around.

You say it "must be free" but are willing to pay medical costs.
I know you can adopt a kitten from the Pat Brody Shelter that
will be spayed/neutered, tested for Feluk/Fiv and given the
appropriate shots for $50. Your medical bills will cost alot
more then that...so in reality a free kitten is not always
the cheapest way out.

Hello all...

I'm looking for a male kitten - preferably short hair -
and I am partial to gray kitties (russian blues?) because
I have had 2 in the past - 1 was put to sleep this past
august at the age of 18 and the other became so attached
to my mom and dad and their yard that he has taken up
permanent residence with them!

In any case... I have contacted the Pat Brody Shelter and
the nice woman who called me back explained that is it not
their policy to let only 1 kitten go to a home without
other cats - I have explained to her that we are getting
a puppy as well and would like the two to grow up together
and get used to each other early in life! She is checking
it out and getting back to me on that...

In the mean time I figured I would check out the feliners and
see if there are any suggestions in here...

Thanks!

MaryJo

ps... The kitty would be indoors and would not be declawed.

I might still consider getting two kittens. They will be much more
company for each other and have the advantage of ganging up on the
pup.;') If the cat will be indoor only, will the dog be spending most
of it's time inside, outside, going places with the family etc? While
the puppy and kitten will most likely be friends the dog will probable
look more to the people for attention.

My cat Polly just had three beautiful babies (early this morning).
Obviously they won't be ready to adopt for about 8 weeks, but I want to
start looking for loving homes. One is a black tuxedo cat, the other two are
black and gray tuxedo-tigers. At least one appears to have double paws,
like his/her mom! It's too early to tell the sex. They're really tiny
and I don't want to pick them up.

The mom was tested FeLV/FIV negative, and is current on all shots.

Let me know if you're interested. Cat lovers only, please! Also, if
you live near a busy street, I'd like it to be an indoor cat.

37.264Wanted: Mr. PersonalityMPGS::WOOLNERYour dinner is in the supermarketMon Jun 10 1996 16:3225
My mom (in Westboro, MA) is looking for an adult (1 to 5 years old)
DSH, preferably male, with a BIG personality! By that she means a cat
who will run towards people instead of away from them; a real gregarious
"party cat" who loves people, "talks back", is playful but not a
curtain-climber. She hopes that it would have been neutered at the
appropriate time (not "last week", with a history of spraying).

It would be an indoor cat (nice Victorian 1-br apartment with 2 sunny
bay windows just waiting for a cat to claim them), with no other pets.
Mom would definitely consider a deaf cat; she's had one before. She
isn't prepared to handle any other (existing, serious) health problems,
though. Oh, and size doesn't *really* matter :-) but Mom really likes
huge cats (not obese, but a big frame, well filled out). Declawed is
not a problem (preferred, but let's not get into THAT religious war!).

Does this sound like somebody you know who needs a nice home, an
immaculate litter box and undivided attention?! If so please send mail
to MPGS::WOOLNER or leave a message at my home phone, 508-845-8301.

a FELINER or two, and maybe even the cat of her dreams :-)

Very big long hair kitty...with a big gorgeous tail...just

Siamese. He has some Siamese coloring (light tan) but also
has some stripes/swirls throughout his body. He has a gorgeous
face with beautiful stripes.

37.269my new "brother"!MPGS::WOOLNERYour dinner is in the supermarketMon Jun 17 1996 16:3418
Yes, Sandy described him purrrfectly! And I defy anybody to
look at him without their eyes bugging out and their jaw dropping
to their knees. This is one stunning cat. We haven't heard his
voice yet--this despite a 45-minute ride to his new home--but he
has a "popcorn purr" so loud that the vet can't hear his heartbeat!

We had read the current advice on getting new kitties adjusted to
their new home, but "Thaicoon" seemed so relaxed about everything
that we set his carrier in the room where the litterbox is and
opened the carrier door. He sauntered out, sniffed the box, walked
unhurriedly to the living room and spread out! Mom cracked, "This
cat is obviously a nervous wreck."

His eyes are *ice blue* and slanted just a little... big snowy-white
ruff, biscuit-colored shoulders, white feet, and markings as Sandy
described. One in a million, if you ask me!

I am looking to adopt a female siamese, preferably a kitten, preferably an
applehead!

I have been wanting one for some time now, and my SO wasn't crazy about the
idea, saying if I get another cat he can get a dog...ummm, no..I don't think
so since it's my house. I finally got him to agree in a round about way.
I once again said I wanted another cat, and that I'd have no more than three
at one time, unless it was a short foster home situation. Funny thing, he
then said "no way, three max". I knew I had him then..that's one more than I
have now, so it's time to bring the count back up!

If anyone hears of one, please let me know!

I'm looking to adopt 2 kittens. I'd prefer that they be of the
longhair/furball variety but I'm starting to realize that you can't
be too picky this time of year.

I was originally interested in getting persian kittens. I had one
as a child and thought it was the most lovable and laid-back cat I'd
ever seen. I'm not willing to spend the over $300 it takes to get one
of these kittens however, so I'll settle for other longhair varieties.
Actually I'd even settle for making sure that just one of the two
kittens is longhair; I'd be interested in adopting one shorthair
kitten as well.

I've been calling animal shelters without much luck. It seems that
this just isn't the time of year for finding kittens.

I live in Upton, MA and work in Littleton. If you know of anyone
looking to give away kittens in this area please let me know ...

Thanks,
