A little far-fetched?  Come on, we are talking Superman here!  It was a 
wonderful episode!

Spoilers for time-shifters...


Meeting his great-grandparents and his parents was a delight.  Tempus was a
marvelous bad guy, who really put Lois in her place ("galactically stupid").
The writing where Clark and Lois were arguing was really good.  And the best 
part was the fact that the Kents found Kal-el in Schuster's field.  Terrific 
stuff...

Ok, the ending was a cop-out, but what could they do at that point?  Having
both Lois and Clark have deja-vu was a nice touch, though...

I can understand local specials, but my ABC station was showing "Top Gun"
during that time.  What was so special about the movie (even though I did
enjoy it) that they had to pre-empt L&C for it?  :-(

Synopsis follows (spoilers):


Opening scene has the Daily Planet newsroom all decorated for a birthday
party for Perry.  After some banter between Lois and Clark, an older slim
gentleman walks up and introduces himself as H.G. Wells, who is visiting
their time in his time machine.  L&C express their disbelief at this, until 
Wells pulls Clark aside and says "I know you're Superman and I need help".
Wells goes on to say that his companion is from the 22nd century and has 
never seen crime and such, so he left him in the park.  Cut to this man on
the streets of Metropolis dressed in a blue jumpsuit and silver surplice
(why are futuristic costumes always either robes or jumpsuits, and why is the
color silver always present?).  He is amazed at all he sees around him, until 
he runs across a man being mugged.  He saves the man from being mugged, then 
says to the man, "Well, the mugging was not very successful, you still have 
your watch".  He then takes the watch, throws the man across the alley, and 
says "So this is mugging.  I *like* it!".  Roll credits and opening sequence...

L&C go out with Wells, Lois still not believing that this is H.G. Wells but
very interested in what the man said to Clark to get Clark to drop everything
and go with him.  They eventually end up at Wells' time machine (and the
producers either borrowed the George Pal time machine or made a very good copy 
of it, which shows a wonderful appreciation of the source material and history 
of SF).  Meanwhile Wells' companion, Tempus, has located a gun store and 
robbed it, shooting the owner in the process.  Clark notices this, excuses
himself to "call Jimmy for some pictures", and Superman helps out the store
owner.  Tempus shows up at the time machine, loaded with his weapons and gold, 
(the time machine uses gold for fuel), announces that he hates the clean, pure, 
"nice" future that he lives in, and blames Lois for it.  He states that she 
will eventually marry Superman, and the two of them will become the parents of 
a perfect world, with a love that will shine through-out history (he is saying 
it in the most sarcastic way possible, obviously loathing the world, but Wells 
supports the story).  Lois is dumbfounded at all of this.  Tempus announces 
that to stop this he will go back and kill Superman as a young baby, before 
the Kents find him. So he forces Wells to take him back to Smallville in 1966.  
Wells "accidentally" drops the plans for the time machine onto the ground, and 
then sets the system to go back to 1866.  They disappear.

Superman shows up, notices the plans, says "this will take me a few hours to
build" and promptly does so.  He then takes off (I don't recall the excuse)
and Clark shows up to go with Lois to chase Wells and Tempus.  They go to
Smallville in 1966.  Lois is amazed by Smallville (never mind being amazed
that she is *in* Smallville in 1966), and they are equally amazed by the 
length of her skirt...  While they are wandering around town, they observe
the local re-enactment of the 100th anniversary of the Great Smallville Gold 
Robbery.  Clark says that there never was a Great Smallville Gold Robbery, 
and the two of them figure out what Wells did.  So they hop in the time machine
and go back to 1866.

Well, if you think Lois' skirt caused excitement in 1966, look out in 1866!

Tempus and Wells go into the local saloon, where Ma Kent is the proprietor,
and Pa Kent is the sheriff (they are Clark's great-grandparents, as we learn
when L&C show up in another scene at the saloon).  Jesse and Frank James are 
in the saloon planning to rob the bank, and Tempus recognizes them.  He 
completely out-shoots Jesse, who immediately goes into a serious funk about 
this, and Frank and Jesse have a frank and serious discussion about his 
inability to perform...  Tempus then is almost arrested by Sheriff Kent, but
Tempus shoots the sheriff and runs over to the bank to rob it.  Lois trails
Wells and Tempus back to the time machine, while Clark rushes into the saloon,
observes his great-grandfather has been shot, and grabs him and flies off (in
full view of his great-grandmother) to the doctor in another city.

Lois is caught by Tempus in the barn near the time machine, and he has great
fun explaining to her that she is "galactically stupid" for never noticing
that Clark is Superman.  It is very well done, with Tempus putting on Wells'
glasses and saying "I'm Clark", taking them off and saying "Now I'm Superman".
He then abandons her in the barn (saying that he appreciates the irony of 
leaving her where she "can't vote, can't own property, and especially can't 
have a job as a reporter for a great metropolitan newspaper"), and he and 
Wells take off for 1966.

Clark shows up, and Lois slaps him saying "Don't pretend that hurt".  She is
furious with Clark/Superman, for not trusting her, for making a fool of her,
for laughing at her, and for never being able to trust him again.  This scene
was also very well done, with some good solid writing on both sides (including
Clark saying "Superman is what I can do, Clark is who I am").  Still arguing,
they get in the time machine and go to 1966.

They go to the Kents farm, and they introduce themselves to Clark's parents.
Another nice scene, with Clark messing up and giving details about them in
every other sentence, and multiple times calling them Ma and Pa, and then
fumbling a recovery.  They eventually find out that they haven't found the
spaceship yet, and excuse themselves to go look for it.  Clark is looking very
pale at this point (no explanation yet).

As they drive around looking for the field, Clark looks worse and worse.  Lois
eventually apologizes, and Clark figures out that he is being erased in time
by Tempus' actions.  Cut to Tempus opening the spaceship with Kal-el inside.
Tempus then finds a lot of kryptonite around the crater made by the spaceship,
and states that pieces of the planet must have stuck to the spaceship as it
travelled to Earth.   (*Finally*, an explanation for how that much kryptonite
got to Earth that makes even minimal sense!)  So he lets the baby play with
the shiny rocks. Cut back to Clark who is looking seriously transparent by now.

Lois shows up, beats up on Tempus (with a little help from Clark who is barely
mobile by now), and rescues Kal-el.  Clark feels better, they tie up Tempus
in the time machine, and Wells sits Lois down for a heart-to-heart talk.  He
says that she is not "galactically stupid", but is instead blind, which is a
trait shared by everyone.  It is another nice scene.  

Wells then takes Tempus back to a place where he will feel more at home than
in the antiseptic future (an isane asylum in the 1800s).  L&C go back to their
time machine, but Superman has one additional thing to do in 1966:  as the
Kents are driving by Schusters field (*very* nice touch!), Superman flies 
over at greater than Mach 1, leading them to the spaceship which landed hours
before.  An elegant solution to the problem of the Kents missing the original
landing time!

L&C go back to Metropolis an 199x, and Wells shows up again.  He says that Lois
cannot find out yet that Clark is Superman, and so he will put them back into
the time stream before this whole thing started.  They agree, but Lois writes
down on the back of a card "Clark is Superman".  

Cut back to the original scene in the decorated newsroom.  Go through the same
banter, but then L&C both say "Haven't we done this scene before?".  Perry
shows up for his birthday party, and Lois grabs the birthday card out of her
purse.  The side toward Clark has "Clark is Superman" written on it, so he
grabs it out of her hand and rips it up with some lame excuse about how Perry
hates cards.  They move off camera, and you see Wells in the background looking
pleased with himself...  End.

    Actually, i too thought this was a great episode, probably my favorite
    to dtae (besisdes the 2 part season finally from last season)
    It had some really great writing, especially at the parts where Lois
    and Clark were arguing about the news (Superman is what i can do. Clark
    is who i am.) and yhe scene whee HG tells Lois that she is blind.
    And, does anyone else agree with me, I think mostly half of Metropolis
    knoows about Clark, and Lois is really "galacticly stupid" to not
    relize it!
    
    Next week looks good. I really don't think Lois likes this Dan guy at
    all, but is trying to get back at him for Mayson.

    	The Teri Hatcher movie I saw was "The Cool Surface".
    

    Just as an aside, in a suburb known as Elsternwick which is part of
    Melbourne, Australia, sits a building which is just like that of `The
    Daily Planet' in Superman. Not only that, but this building *IS* `The
    Daily Plant' building, as the signs outside attest, but instead of it
    being home of a daily newspaper, this is a legalised brothel!
    
    (Superman would NEVER have approved of this.. not to mention how Lois
    and Clark would have felt about it!)

What did you think of last nights cliffhanger season finale? I enjoyed it a
good deal but those constant interruptions just as he was about to tell her
began to get irritating. I loved it when Perry said to Jimmy that they just
seemed to be supporting characters to Lois and Clark and he was sick of it.
This show is quite well done but suffers from the constraints of some very
illogical elements (Clark's "disguise", etc) inherited from the comic.

    I loved the last show!  I love L&C!  I wonder if the writers are going
    to bring L&C into the 90's and have them get hitched?  I for one

  To bring them into the 1990's it would be more realistic to have them live
together first while struggling to make ends meet on two incomes with no
health insurance.

I can see it for Lois, but why would Clark need health insurance (or as they
cleverly pointed out in another episode, pot holders)?

Certainly there are people in the 1990s who don't fit that scenario.  Come on,
George, don't be so much of a curmudgeon... (IMHO).

    When is Lois going to get a clue? I mean, she is supposed to be a prize
    winning reporter. She suspects,, why doesn't she use her great
    "snooping skills?" Although... did anyone get the hint that she knows?
    or at least suspects?
    The Jimmy/Perry thing was great!!
    Great episode all around, and it being my favorite show, of course i
    will keep watching.. but some people are very upset with what happened.
    I guess i am too. It do think it is wrong to keep a secret that big
    from someone you just proposed to. But maybe, as soon as Lois says yes,
    and Clark knows that Lois would marry him as Clark, he'll tell her.

    Does anyone have a copy of the season finale episode of L&C that I
    could borrow?  I had the VCR set because I was busy with a project and
    looked forward to watching the tape later but....
    
    Friends unexpectedly showed up and I ended up taking the tape out so
    their little one could watch Lion King while the grown ups talked.

They replayed the last few minutes of the end of last season's episode, which
ended with Clark proposing.  Lois's answer was

"Who is asking, Clark or Superman?"  

Remember last episode when Clark put his hand on Lois's face in concern, 
and later when Superman did the same thing?  Lois may be "galactically 
stupid", but she is not a complete idiot.

The rest of the episode detailed Lois and Clark working through their
hurt and feelings for each other.  It was very well done, with Lois being
hurt and mad that Clark lied to her for so long and saying "No" to his
proposal, Clark being hurt at her refusal and avoiding her, etc.  The
really nice part was when Clark's parents flew into Metropolis to talk
to them.

It ended with the two of them making up and dancing above the clouds...

I am still loving that Lois knows all about Clark/Superman.  I loved it 
when Clark was trying to impress his love w/his superpowers and flying off
to get Lois cheese and chocolates, etc.

Lois is not amused, she wants Clark - truly!  

Then when Superman is needed, it was funny how Lois wanted Clark to spin 
into his suit -- but Clark left his suit at home (due to a bet he couldn't
leave superman at home)

They both really play off one another very well.

In the end, they are going to try and incorporate both identities.

Another good episode this week.

I think they are really getting into the idea that Superman is finding himself
powerless for the very first time, and it scares him more than it would a
normal person, because we have lived with being powerless all of our lives,
but for him it is brand new.  This is similar to the scene in the first
Superman movie where Pa Kent has a heart attack, and there is nothing that
Clark or Superman can do to save him.  He may have "powers and abilities far
beyond mortal men", but there are some things he can't fix, and it is really 
causing him pain.

He just has to work through this, and he will, but the angst is well done.

I also liked the villian this week.  Bob Fences of Nanoware, head of a major
software company worth $70B, who wears tortoise-shell glasses?  Nicely done...

    On a fluff note, what do you think of Lois's  hair cut?  I was glad
    that at least Perry made note of the chage.  Nothing bothers me more
    when a key role does something to change them selves and not one person
    mentions it.

  I saw this show for the 1st time last night and while it was OK it's not that
great. 

  I realize that Superman is based on a comic book but I thought that the
villain was a bit too melodramatic. Even the comic book wasn't that campy back
in the early 60's when I was a big fan. It was kind of funny seeing a "Bill
Gates" type bad guy but they really over did it with him playing with the toy
figures and the "Ah-nold" imitation has really been overused. Old jokes are not
funny jokes. 

  The guy playing Superman is OK but comes in an obvious 3rd to George or Chris
Reeves. Lois and Jimmy Olson are pretty good but Perry White was terrible. Of
course the original Perry White back in the old George Reeves series was not
only the best Perry White ever cast, he may well be the best superman character
ever cast.

  It's almost a good series but just a bit too campy. Not as bad as the Batman
series but not as good as the old series.

I don't think he's married to Lex ... he's married to a frog-eating 
clone of Lois!

    Clark married to Lex?  You must be kidding.  I didn't get that from the
    show.  My understanding was that Lex was behind the clone setup, and
    that he arranged to create a Lois clone, so that he could have Lois for
    himself.  I did not think that the clone was Lex.  What makes you think
    that?

    
    I guess I got that from the snipet for next weeks show.  It shows Lex
    pulling off a human looking mask.  I guess I just assumed he was done
    up as lois.

my wife and I have missed this past 'wedding' episode, also I understand
it's the first of a 2-parter.

We're enjoying it thoroughly though the writers are really milking this
one for all its worth! Poor Clark.

   I know! I was a little disgusted to find that next week was a rerun
   with poor Clark left to pine over a Lois who knows her name is Lois, 
   but who doesn't remember Clark or probably Superman either.  They 
   are as far from getting married as they were when both were dating
   other people! Hopefully his parents are still in town to offer him 
   comfort and encouragement. At least he doesn't have to watch someone
   looking like Lois eating frogs anymore.  Though I really felt badly 
   for the clone at the end.

    Lois/Terri is not sick.  She was reshaping her body for a photo shoot
    she did (for a calender I belive) but not a bikini calender.  They did
    a whole segment on this on ET last month.  They showed before and after
    shots and she has not really lost weight, but she has actually reshaped
    her body. She took alot of inches of her hips and inner thighs (not
    that I think she needed too) :)

    Yes, I agree!  She has had to be very diverse and use alot of emotions. 
    She had me really belive she was a ditzy clone and a 90's version of

  There's no need to put that behind a spoiler warning. As anyone born on
either this planet or Krypton knows they've been dragging out the problems with
Lois and Clark's romance for some 60 years now. Don't see any problem with them
making it until the end of spring. 

  Think about it, since Lois and Superman 1st met, other people have met,
gotten married, had kids, grandkids, and celebrated their 50th anniversary.
Meanwhile Lois and Clark still can't seem to pull the trigger.

    know yet that Lois got 99.0% of her memory back yet and that she does

  All right, I'll use a spoiler for the benefit of those who have not been to
either Earth or Krypton for the last half century. 

SPOILER WARNING



  What happened to Lois and Clark should come as no surprise. This couple has
had the alter in sight for well over half a century only to be thwarted time
and time again by criminals, disasters, slips and slides through dimensions and
other girlfriends with initials L.L. And more often than not Lex Luthor is
right in the middle of what ever disaster is taking place. 

  Inevitably the whole thing gets put on ice because someone, usually Lois,
looses their memory. In fact Lois has so many gaps her memory over the last 60
years from various drugs, spells, and thumps on the head that she thinks she's
still in her late 20's to early 30's. Putting her memories end to end that's
about all the life she can remember. 

  She's lost her memory in comics, on two TV shows, in movies, on Earth, off
Earth, in this dimension and in others and about the only thing you can be sure
of is that she'll lose it again. No doubt one of those thumps on her head as
rendered her unable to identify Superman when he or takes off his glasses but
it's amazing the way she's over some that to be the star reporter for the daily
planet. 

  Ok, maybe to you young'ens, it's all new so up go the spoilers. But as Jimmy
Olson would say, "Golly gee Superman, good thing they don't have X-Ray vision
or they'd see right through those spoiler warnings".

    Ooooooh I liked it!  I really like this show.  I feel the anxiety
    between L & C and I love it.  Of course you can just about figure
    exactly what the outcome is going to be in any given episode but I
    still like it!

The last 1/2hr  okay lets see:



Lois and Clark meet w/his parents in smallville and they talk about his 
choice - he is torn for his love of earth and Lois and his heritage and 
saving his people.  Martha (his mother) comes up w/an analogy about how her 
and her Husband  did alot of protesting growing up because they feel that 
it was "their fight" and they wanted to make a difference.  They asked 
Clark if this is "his fight" - and the answer is YES it is.

Lois also had a talk w/Zarla(?) and Lois knows that Zarla has some sort of 
feeling for Ching and Ching has feelings for her too, but this is not about 
feelings - this is about surviving and they need Clark to preserve their 
way of life.  (it was a nice hart to hart)

Lois and Clark go to the spaceship where Zarla(?) and Ching are - they've 
made the decision for Clark to go w/them.  But the Roger Daltry/the bad 
guy is close by - they've figured out that what ever Superman used against 
him - the bad guy throws back double.  Superman subdues him and the forces 
that be no that the bad guy has failed so the forces that be, end his life 
cycle.

Lois and Clark had a nice hart to hart at Clarks.  They tell each other 
how much they love one another and how Lois will wait for Clark.  Lois 
gives him her wedding ring on a chain for him to wear and think of her.

The next day, Superman has a meeting w/all of the press at the Daily Planet 
to tell the world that he must go and save his people and to please trust 
one another and be good.  Lois, Clarks parents, Zarla and Ching are all in 
Perrys office - L&C hug one lasttime and off they fly!

Lois has a small breakdown - how she might never see him again, and she 
should'nt of let him go - but the parents comfort her.

next we see Zarla and Ching on the ship and Superman comes out all dressed 
in black (just like Zarla and Ching) he has on a kinda rubber black suite w
/ black boots and a big blue S on his chest.  

We see Lois at her apartment and she is crying - then she hears Clark call 
her name from the sky - she runs to the window and she looks up at 
NewKripton and she hears Clark say I love you!

    How is the "disappearance" of Clark going to be explained??? No mention
    of the story Lois is to use or anything. Also, wouldn't people think it
    odd that Superman went into Perry's office to privately say goodbye to
    Clark's parents and Lois??? And the way Lois broke down when he left
    will have to clue some people in. I know, it's only a show, but it will
    be interesting to see how they handle Clark's disappearing.
    

    So, what do you all think?  Are they going to have a season of
    Ka-El on New Krypton? or just an episode or two?  Is this a good idea
    in viewers' minds?  Does the show need a major change, or will it kill
    it?  How are they going to keep Lois in the plots, or are they going
    to change the name of the show?  Anyone heard any rumors about the
    scripts for next year?
    

    
    I don't know of any rumors, but I like the idea of kaEl going off to
    his new home (New Krypton).  It's tossed a nice new monkey wrench into
    L&C's realtionship.  If they can get throu this, there love will last
    forever!
    
    Does anyone know if it follows the comic books at all?

    I think in the comic book relationship, Lois & Clark end up in
    Splitsville. Don't know how long they keep it going in the TV show
    though?

Discussion behind a <FF> for time-shifters.


I personally think that New Krypton will be resolved fairly quickly, within
1 or 2 episodes.  I don't have a clue *how*, but I think it will be.  I mean,
the people on New Krypton are the traditional cold logical dispassionate
aliens who are puzzled by strong Earth emotions, and as such they are really
a cliche in science fiction.  I was hoping that L&C would do better than
this, since they have in fact done better than this in many other parts of
the Superman mythos: his relationship with this parents, the relationship
between L&C, the conflict between Clark and Superman (best line ever on this
topic, "Superman is what I can do, Clark is who I *am*"), the explanation for
how his parents survived a super-powered toddler, etc.

But back to my main point: what got many (I believe most) people interested
in this show was the relationship between L&C, with many also interested in
watching a show about a super-powered guy and how he handles some laughable
villians, plus a few of us who also don't mind the eye candy of L&C.  But
when Kal-el goes to New Krypton, we lose almost all of that.  No L&C, no
super-powers (they stated explicitly that New Krypton has a red sun), and
now we have a "normal" powered individual fighting an evil tyrant.  I don't
know about you, but that is not the show *I* have watched for the last few
years...

If Clark doesn't come back to Lois within a max of 3 episodes, I predict
that ratings are going to go into the toilet.  I believe that the writers
and producers know this.


On another topic, why did Clark's parents and Lois have their goodbyes with
Superman right there in front of everybody at the Daily Planet, and won't
this give away the secret?  Well, two things: 1) L&C haven't been exactly
shy about not talking about sensitive subjects in front of other people
(the conversation about him being alien in the Planet's office was only 
the latest in a very long line of such conversations), and 2) they simply
didn't care anymore.  Their son, and the love of her life, is going into
voluntary life-long exile on a faraway planet: they have other things to
think about than a secret identity which is completely useless once he
leaves anyway.  Now, the writers will either deal with it or ignore it
next season, but right now the characters simply don't care.

    and they started it again with a 2 parter......

ABC Pulls 'Lois & Clark' From Schedule

            HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - ABC has yanked poorly performing
drama "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman" from its
schedule for the rest of the May sweeps, but said the show would
return later in the summer.
            While "Lois & Clark" was once a big hit for ABC, its
ratings have tumbled this season and it is now averaging a 4.0
rating and 8 share. The series, starring Dean Cain and Teri
Hatcher, premiered on the network in September 1993.
            Earlier this season, ABC moved ``Lois & Clark'' from Sunday
8-9 p.m. to Saturday 8-9 p.m. Despite its performance this
season, ABC has renewed the show for next year.
            ABC is airing the movie "Andre" this Saturday from 8-10
p.m. and on Saturday, May 10, is airing "My Girl 2" from 8-10
p.m. "Gun" remains in the 10-11 p.m. slot. On May 17, ABC will
blow out the night for a rebroadcast of "Clear and Present
Danger."
            The network also unveiled some new sweeps programming,
including a Martin Short-hosted tribute to the Three Stooges.
Titled "The Three Stooges Greatest Hits," it will air on
Thursday, May 15, in the 8-9 p.m. slot and includes
never-before-seen footage of the comic trio. The special will
also include Little Richard performing the Curly Shuffle.

    Did anyone see Lois & Clark last nite May 31 ?
    It was goooood....a small time hood switches bodies with Clark and
    realizes he's Superman....had a sad ending for the hood tho....
    
    I missed the title of the show  (and couldn't find it in the paper)
    I watch this show faithfully every week...and I don't remember seeing
    this one...I'm sure it was a NEW one?
    
    I can't believe its audience suddenly dissappeared because Kent and
    Lane got married...thats what I read regarding the nose dive in ratings
    which lead to the cancellation of the show...any opinions on that
    reason?  
    They said the fans were clamouring for them to marry..and once
    they did the ratings dropped away.....I don't believe it...actually
    the show got much more SeXier...which I was surprized at..ha!
    (the writers  REALLY did drag out the wedding (3 parts)and it was 
    getting stupid with the clones that ate those small special frogs..remember?)  
    
    I really love this show and really enjoy the story lines, the
    characters ...etc...it was something different to watch when it 
    debued 3 or 4 seasons back and I like it even More Now than I did Then!...
    cause of Lois & Clarks chemistry on screen, and some of the funky bad
    guy they had....Lex Luthor was terrific in this series also..(a few
    weeks ago they had a 2 part episode which I LOVED...with Lex Luthor's son....)
    
    The past 2 seasons have been more awesome in my recollection..than the 
    first 2 ........considering
    what there is to watch (other than the wonderful X-Files) there isn't
    much worth flippin' the channel to.

    This show suffers from all the other short-sightedness of the network
    schedulers, in that it keeps getting pre-empted.
    
    How can they expect ANY show to keep up ratings when the substitute
    other premiers, or movies, or swap shows around during the week?
    
    They don't seem to realize that EVERY TIME THEY PRE_EMPT a show,
    it looses some audience.

  There is a big difference between asking fans if they want the hero and
heroin to get married and asking if they will continue to watch if the hero and
heroin get married. Typically once Prince Charming marries the princess they
ride off into the sunset on his white horse and all you see is the sign saying


                               "The End".

I've enjoyed this series too, and I think the writers have handled Lois & Clark
being married very well. This was a new episode & I thought it was a lot of fun.
I agree with the person who mentioned audience share being lost with all the
schedule changes, and pre-empting of the show for other things. If it weren't 
for a more dedicated person in our household who is much better with times and
dates than I am, I would have missed the new show, having lost of track of the
schedule that isn't really a schedule.

  This series makes the same mistake as the original series, the movie, several
versions of the comics. They have left out the best character from the Superman
series, Krypto the Superdog.

  Tossing in Supergirl and Bazaro wouldn't hurt either. Then there was the guy
from the 5th dimension, Mzxcvb ... no, Mnbvcx ... nope, Mpytrew ... no that's
not right either. Something like Mzxypoiwq ... what the heck was his name?

Do you mean Mr. Mxysptlk? There has been at least one episode. See note
352.85. I never read the comics so don't anything about the other names
you mention.

  That's the guy. Sorry I missed that episode. 

  Bazarro was the name given for a whole group of mutant Supermen. They all
dressed like superman but they looked funny (hexagon like corners on their
faces) and everything they did was all goofed up. Seinfield did a Bazarro
episode this year where everything got turned around and no one seemed to act
like they normally did. 

  Supergirl was Superman's Cousin. I forget how she escaped Krypton when it
exploded but she came to earth and worked in secret for several years before
Superman introduced her to the public. 

  Krypto the Wonder dog was a dog that was in a satellite orbiting Krypton when
the planet blew up. The blast pushed him far enough away from Krypton's red sun
and like every one/thing else that escaped Krypton he became super powerful.
Somehow he followed Ka-el to Earth and he became Superboy's pet. 

  While other people let their dogs out the back door to play, Superdog would
leave the planet earth and go play around the stars chasing comets and the
like. Several episodes a year he'd come back to earth to visit Superman and
would get involved with what ever was going on. Think Lasie in a red cape and
you'd get the idea although he was a little less smaltzy. Maybe more like a
combination of Lasie and Frasier's Eddie. 

  Then Superman had his robots in a closet in the Fortress of Solitude. They
looked just like him and had most of his powers. There was also a miniature city
full of miniature people from Krypton that he kept in a bottle. Also at the
Fortress. Somehow the plate on which their city sat got thrown free from Krypton
when it exploded and I forget why it shrunk. 

  Geez, this is all 30+ years ago. What else? Lois Lane was always chasing
after him and occasionally he'd run into his childhood sweetheart Linda Lang. I
saw her once on this show but she seemed to have a very small part. Then there
was Laura Lirmis(?) a mermaid from the sunken city of Atlantis. All his girl
friends had initials L.L. Jimmy Olson really was his best friend, not just some
copy guy he sees at work. He gave Olson a watch with a hyper sonic buzzer so
Olson could call Superman anytime from anywhere. 

  In general the stories were a lot more science or engineering oriented. That
was a simpler time and Superman stories consisted of simple people in a complex
universe rather than complex people in a simple universe like we get today.
