| Welcome to C-P, Darlene!
I don't live in the Boston area, so I can't make any recommendations.
Perhaps you could elaborate on what it is you seek in a church. I also
invite you to share a little about yourself in the Introduction Note (3.*).
I wouldn't be surprised if you do receive some offline recommendations.
Some may come from folks who consider the bulk of the noters here to be --
well -- renegade Christians.
Where we live, my spouse, Sharon, and I also worship at an assortment
of churches: United Methodist, Roman Catholic, Unitarian Universalist, Quaker,
and MCC (where I currently have my membership).
Peace,
Richard

| Yes, please tell us a little more about what you are looking for in a church.
I have one suggestion which may or may not be what you are looking for, and
that is Grace Chapel in Lexington, MA. (Get on 95/128 to Lexington, take the
Rt 4/225 exit east, through a couple of lights, a right after the Friendly's,
about 1/2 mile on right. Can't miss it!) It is a large, what you might call
(dare I say it in this conference? :-) evangelical church. Each of the two
Sunday morning services has close to 1000 people attending, and the Sunday
evening service probably has a few hundred (I don't attend it...). It is not
charismatic if that's what you mean by alive, but it is certainly a very alive
church. It is very active in missions, both in the community and around the
world. The head pastor is very challenging/motivational/encouraging in his
sermons, and challenges the status quo quite often.
It may seem a long ways away from home, but it sort of is the Boston mentality
to drive a long ways to church/work/recreation. (Something I'm struggling
with right now...) We drive about 35 minutes to get there from Hudson, MA,
and there are people who live in New Hampshire that attend Grace Chapel as
well.
If you would like to visit to see what it is like, let me know. My wife and
I would be glad to meet you there and attend the service with you. We also
attend a Young Married Sunday School class which you are also welcome to attend
(no matter HOW long you've been married :-).
Hope this helps.
In Christ's Love,
Jeff

| Thanks for your replys. What are we looking for? Well Grace Chapel sounds close.
The pastor being "challenging/motivational/encourgaing and challenging the status quo" sounds right on.
The active mission work sounds good too. The churches we attended in Los Angeles, Presbyterian and Episcopal
both sound similiar to Grace. We will try it. Jeff, I don't know when we will go but I would like to meet you when we do.
We are newly married but not young (we are in our 40s). I will let you know.
Thanks so much.

| Re: .0
Darlene,
Have you found a church that suits you yet? If so, and you
wouldn't mind telling us, what was it that determined your selection?
Peace,
Richard
