2426.0. "MUSIC where are you??" by MFGMEM::MICHAUD (Think about software that thinks!) Mon Aug 27 1990 19:17

    What happened to the MUSIC conference? Could someone tell me where it
    is located? I've been away for awhile and now that I'm back, it's gone!

    John,

    For future reference...

    There's a convention such that whenever a notesfile is moved, a
    pointer to the new location is left in the old location. When you
    OPEN MUSIC in the old location, you'll find a one note conference
    that just tells you everything.

    That doesn't work when the conference has been moved twice since you
    last visited it. I had quite a time finding EASYNET_CONFERENCES after
    a jog to school (I think it's on TURRIS now). Or COMMUSIC after it
    left QUILL a while ago.

    If you can't find a conference, check in EASYNET_CONFERENCES as they
    will have the updates. So keep up with where it's at!

    will get you the list, for example look under employee interests

    Well, even pointers to relocated conferences have to have some sort of
    statute of limitations. I think a 6 months is reasonable.

    Looks to me like no one really know where it is:

    thanks

2426.7OK - here's the storyDREGS::BLICKSTEINThis is your brain on UnixThu Aug 30 1990 13:5413
    While I didn't say where it was, I told you how to find out.

    It's on TIMBRE:: now, but you really should read the forwarding
    note as you may encounter problems referencing it. TIMBRE is a new
    node and may not be in your database - the forwarding note warns
    about that problem and tells you how to deal with it if you encounter
    it.

    I probably should've mentioned it directly but the idea was to
    encourage you to read the forwarding note without me having to
    type in why.

    .. and if your node doesn't know about TIMBRE, other systems do, and
    you can (with privileges)

    $ MC NCP
    NCP> TELL ANCHOR SH NODE TIMBRE (which responds:)
    Node Volatile Summary as of 30-AUG-1990 10:12:15

    NCP>SET NODE TIMBRE ADDR 25.592
    NCP>DEF NODE TIMBRE ADDR 25.592
    NCP>EXIT<CR>

    .. and you've got it. karl
