2372.0. "K1 Patch PRBLMS" by TDCIS3::RENOUVEL () Wed Jun 20 1990 12:11

    This is my problem:

    I've got an ATARI ST1040 and I have a disk full of sounds for
    KAWAI K1.

    The problem is that the sounds are by files.

    EX:

    K1.DAT
    DEMO.DAT
    K1B.DAT
    ETC.....

    Can I take and if yes,How , the best sounds of the "savesets" and
    make a PATCH WITH ALL OF THE ONES I'VE SELECTED.

    Thanks for your Answers.

    All the Best.

    PAT.

    Assuming the K1 is the same as the K1R .... yes you can.

    I'm not sure if I understand exactly what the files are. I am assuming
    you have some form of patch librarian for the ST...

    Does each file contain 1 patch or many ? The K1 can dump patch data
    in a couple of ways

     1 single patch at a time ( the librarian can store several in
    				in one file but still select individual
    				ones)
     		or
     All patches in one looong sys-ex message ( to the librarian it
    				looks like 1 single patch)

     If the file contains 1 dump of all patches you will have to load
     them into the K1 and then save them back as single patches. Then
     you can pick and choose.

     If the file actually contains several single patches, just use
    the librarian to load the specific one.

2372.3Check your sysex settings under System!RANGER::EIRIKURThu Jun 21 1990 15:369
    Ah, I just thought of something. I keep my K1R in Sysex "PACH" mode,
    which is the alternate of Bulk mode. Perhaps that is why I fail to
    load Sysex bulk dumps into my K1R! (PACH is what the OpCode Librarian
    wants to work with, and I have never succeeded in getting plain MIDI
    files to load.)

    Check this parameter (under System) before trying to load your files.

    HELP!! I have a K1m at home but I can't find my manual for it. Can some
    kind soul lend me their copy (or copy it for me). I'm especially
    interested in the midi (format) section. I'm writing a librarian
    (similar to what .0 wants) but I need this info.

    I'm finishing up my version for the DX7/TX7 now. I figure I can replace
    the patch data structures with the ones for the K1 and away we'll go.
    I'll probably put these one the net as soon as I've polished them up.

If you didn't get the manual yet I can help you with a copy. I could
either mail it to you or scan the appropriate pages and send you
the TIF files over the net.

Please send mail to MUNICH::GENIUS.

    I should say that I've got the information I needed. My patch librarian
    is done!! I'll probably be putting it on the net soon as well as some
    K1 patches (from a local bbs if they ever get around to converting them
    for me).

2372.7K1 Patch Librarian for Atari STROYALT::ORSHAWAssociate FTSG membership pending.....Fri Feb 22 1991 20:1020
I've just finished a program that some of you should find helpfull. It is a
point and grunt Kawai K1 series patch librarian. It's located at:

PRNSYS::USER2:[LOMICKAJ.HOBBY.ST]k1lib10.arc

It allows you to save and restore your K1 patch banks to your Atari ST. It
also allows you to create new banks by moving the voices around with the mouse.
It does NOT do any voice editing.

My primary goal in writing this program is PATCHES!! I WANT YOUR PATCHES!! I
hope we can get some patch exchange going over the net. If you have a K1 but
not an atari, see if you can find someone who does. If you are in the eastern
MA area, I may even volunteer my machine.

Try it out and let me know what you
think!!

Thanks,
Jim

    I come back

    Are you interested by patches (About 1000 sounds) for K1 ?

    if yes I will post them on my account in a Public Directory.

    Regards.

Re .8:

I'm interested. (I hope that the format is a straight dump, as I'm an Amigan
using a different PD patch editor/librarian.)

Thanks for the offer-

    I would love them as well!! And I also need them in a straight dump
    format (tho I can roll-my-own software to handle almost any format).

    Please make them available
    Thanks,
    Jim
