2243.0. "Vocal Effects Processing - Howzit Done?" by DYO780::SCHAFER (Brad - boycott hell.) Fri Jan 19 1990 14:25

Okay - I've heard about as many of these cheezy soundpage winners as I
can take. Anyone get the latest Keyboard rag? Anyone listen to the
soundpage contest winners? Anyone else as unimpressed as I was?

There is one thing that intrigues me, though ... the "Bad Jazz" tune
has some real weird vocal effects/processing that goes on. I think
that the b-b-b-b-b-a-a-a-ad-bad-bad-bad stuff is probably sampled, but
I can't for the life of me figure out how the rest of it's done, other
than with a sampler ... and I can't imagine sampling *all* those
    vocals.

    Howdie dooit? Any ideas?

I don't get the magazine. The only one I read is EM. I find that
KEYBOARD and GUITAR PLAYER (and other like magazines) have too
much that doesn't interest me. I'd suspect pitch shifting is
being used in some manner (it's common to find songs where a touch
being used these days). Maybe you are thier only subsciber.

I received the soundpage and would like to listen to it and comment
  - but I don't have a record player.

I prefer Keyboard Magazine to Electronic Musician, but get them both
anyway (rathole alert).

I don't get that one, either, but is it possible that the effects
units were razor blades and tape? Lot of possibilities, there...

If someone sends me the record I'll listen to it and tell you what it
was. I've used all the known effects in my performances.
