923.0. "Moving from Europe to US" by GVA02::WICKS () Thu Jul 19 1990 15:54

    I'm in the process of moving from Europe to the US and I wondered just
    how viable it was to take my 520 ST and Philips monitor with me. If
    anyone has any experience of doing this could they please let me
    know how much work is necessary to convert it from running on 240 volt
    to a 110 supply?

    thanks

USENET had a German living in Arizona who just hooked his ST into the basement
220 mains for the washing machine/dryer.

You could always on the computer end replace the power supply with a 110 one.

There may be freq problems but I doubt it. There is a bit you can poke
that tells the CPU youa re in 60hz land

    The Atari does not derive any clock signals from the line. Since US
    line frequency is 60Hz and most European in 50Hz. This is not true for
    the monitor, and possibly some hard disk drive motors.
