posting to comp.binaries.atari.st? This archive contains

    Yes, I'll move it to my VMS directory over the weekend.
    Look for ut.03 in HJUXB::SYS$USERDSK:[HASLOCK.DOOM]

    You did better than I, I only got parts 1,2,4, and 5.

    When you get all 14 parts can you let us know so we can copy them?

      Thanks

105.4not Unix...RADINA::PASCIUTAAdrian (RDGENG::) PasciutaTue May 31 1988 10:2714
The postings mentioned refer to a "UNIX Tool Kit", consisting of
a number of Unix utilities (like grep, make, etc) that have been
written for the ST. This is not a Unix system---the utilities
are built to run from a shell such as Gulam.

A "real" Unix should be available for the ST later this summer.
The system is called Minix and is written by Andy Tannenbaum. It
will be used as a vehicle for teaching undergraduate operating
system courses.

I'll make the full distribution of the Unix Tool Kit available
when I've copied over that missing file.

    Sometime tonight, I will move all of the .ARC files to
    	HJUXB::SYS$USERDSK[HASLOCK.DOOM.UT]
    Unfortunately, one of the .ARC's is corrupt so MKDIR.PRG doesn't
    work.

	This has been rumoured ever since the original PC/MINIX
	appeared. Is it finally going to happen? Where did you
	get your information?

	It could make it worth going out and buying an ST.

    re .6

         Andy Tannenbaum said that he had completed working on a port
    of minix to the st, and had given it to the publisher, I think it
    is Addison Wesley (sp). It takes a while for them to package, etc
    and should be available in late spring (now-ish) to early summer.
    He said he will make an announcement on the minix newsgroup when
    it is available. So watch that usenet posting if your interested.
    I guess he had found several bugs in the existing pc version while
    doing this port. We will also not be limited to 64k size images
    as the pc's are due to the intels segmented memory architecture.
