3121.0. "The Jaye Foucher Project" by BUSY::SLABOUNTY (A swift kick in the butt - $1) Wed Oct 04 1995 13:09

Went to The Zone on Friday night to check out The Jaye Foucher
    	Project. Excellent, really.

3-piece band ... guitar/bass/drums. Jaye is probably the best
female guitarist I've ever seen. All instrumentals, except
for 1 song that they claim they wrote between soundcheck and
the start of the show. And it wasn't bad, either.

Here's a snippet from the "fan club request" letter I'm going
    	to send to the band:

    	[start snippet]

Not being into music theory [I listen quite well, but could
never get the hang of the playing part] and not being too good
in the "technical and technique" categorization, the best I
can do is to say you sound like a cross between Blues Saraceno
[you definitely have very similar tone] and the melodic side of
Steve Vai. Which is a great combination, I might add.

You play with feeling, you can play light/heavy music, you've
got speed if the song warrants it.

    	[end snippet]

I bought a copy of their demo tape, but I haven't listened to
it yet ... although they played at least one of the songs, and
    	it was great.

They did an excellent cover of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight", with
an "extended jam remix" instrumental in the middle.

If they're playing anywhere near you, check 'em out!!
