2854.0. "Guitar/Amp Publicity Posters" by NEST::CURRY () Wed Nov 10 1993 09:43

I'm looking to get my hands on some product publicity photos/posters
from any and all major guitar/amp manufacturers. Would you suggest
writing to the manufacturers, or should I go a different route?

(I'm looking to re-wallpaper this drab office of mine with something
more pleasant to look at than just white sheetrock, and since pictures
of Cindy Crawford in a bikini aren't exactly acceptable with company
policy, guitars and amps are the next best choice!)

    Thanks for any info!
    Mike

I never saw a policy that prevented having photos of horses in your
    office.

Greg said she has "thorobred" hips. I said she's so hot her husband
    prefers gerbils.

I have in my extensive collection a KittyHawk promo poster sent
to me from LPMG. Unfortunately the delectable lady in the poster
is a perch for a hawk on her arm (get it, KittyHawk) so it really
isn't a Cindi Crawford style poster.
On the other hand, I would love to get my hands on the original
Rich Bich poster from BC Rich. A classic in its time.

.. I just thought of this. What if the girl in the poster is
LPMG's secretary from he!!. Scary thought there!

I have an original Dean poster which was cool enough that the valuing difference
police made me take it home from the office...

If you live in MA, Tewksbury Music had a stack of the Gibson posters
last time I was in. There are 6 in the series and each one has a
photo of 6 guitars (or basses) with all the facts & figures about
their configuration.

When you put all 6 posters together, you end up with some pretty
impressive wallpaper. ***CAUTION*** This may act as a sub-liminal
GTS stimulant!

Walls covered with pictures of gibsons would most likely make me only wish
to torpedo vomit...

now if they were PRS and stienbergers....and a stray ESP or two...

Young?? thanks but I turned 40 this year...

I WAS a dedicated gibson man once (lower case ha ha), then I became a dedicated
strat man, now I'm a dedicated 24 fret man, and I tend to like the newer stuff
rather than 30 year old designs that have never been improved...what can I say?
At least I don't start note 'wars' because I feel like my taste is a law of
nature and yours is deviant....:-) (a bunch of times)

Yo Edd good one, made me chuckle...

fond memories? Of my SG 'rubberneck' that never stayed in tune long enough
to play an entire chord? That gibson's fix for was to run heavier gage strings?
"Yeah we put these Pete Townshend special extra heavies on it and it stays
in tune, what's your problem?" I remember this 18 year old who went bankrupt
saving up for that guitar...

Once in a great while I wish I had kept my les paul custom cherry sunburst,
but then I remember that my back can't take hours of carting a cinder block
around hanging off my neck by a strap :-) besides it had serious feedback
problems, needed potting on the pickups no doubt...

I'm am truely nostalgic about my strat ever since I got a very bogus fret job
and it's been rendered to a wallhanging status until I get it re-fretted
again. 3rd times a charm though. After I saw Bryan Adams this spring I
remembered everything I liked about strats, not beccause of Bryan but his
guitar player was emminently tasteful.

But I'll stick to my ESP/Stienberger combo for gigging, they work good for me

back to the poster discussion

I always liked the epiphone poster with the old granny on it,with a caption
of something about live well, ...play epiphone...that one was cool without any
cleavage...

Look for a Rickenbacker dealer and ask for one of the Rick posters.
It has their entire product line on one side and a large picture of
a Rick 6-string (like John Lennon played) on the opposite side.
    Cool poster.
