2489.0. "Ronnie Earl Seminar" by PENUTS::RHAYES (Raymond F. Hayes, Jr. DTN 275-3628) Thu Apr 02 1992 17:30

        I couldn't find a 'Seminar Notice' note so I'll stick this here so it
    	eventually disappears.

        For all those interested, The Minor Chord in Acton, Massachusetts
        has finally scheduled the Ronnie Earl seminar. It will be held
        upstairs over The Minor Chord on April 18th, 2:00-3:30 pm. Cost
        is $45 and there is no intermission. The format is Ronnie playing,
        talking and demonstrating. Participants shouldn't bring their guitar.

        That's all the information I have. The number for The Minor Chord is
        (508)264-0299. I was 6th to sign up as of 4/1 and checks must be
        received by 4/13.

    I'm going to pay $45 to watch Ronnie play and blab (probably somewhat
    senselessly) about Blues guitar?

    NOT!

    I'd rather pat the $5.00 cover charge when he plays the Sit n Bull on
    Wed. eves, thankyouverymuch!

    Buck, who thought the Ronnie $45/guitar lesson price was bad (at least
    you get to play in that deal)

    Sounds like he should just make a video,.. probably get a lot more
    dollars back for his time anyway,.. and we could all cop it for $20
    or whatever,...

    I love the dude,. love to go hear him play,.. BUT,. $45 to just
    watch and like not have him watch me play and give *ME* pointers
    or whatever,.. does seem like a steep price...

    Has anybody suggested they tape it? Hell,. I'll market the thing
    and take 5% of the gross,...

2489.3Too much!GOES11::G_HOUSENow I'm down in itThu Apr 02 1992 18:386
    Most of the music store seminars around here are sponsored by equipment
    manufacturers and are free. I don't care if it was with someone I
    really loved, I'd never pay FOURTY-FIVE bucks for an hour and a half
    lecture. I'm sorry, but that's really usury as far as I'm concerned.

2489.4Just call me damage control...the money's going to charity...KALI::TTESTAHolding my breath till I turn BLUESWed Apr 15 1992 12:525
	I was gonna enter the info about the clinic this week, but never
got around to it....I hate to see Ronnie and the Minor Chord getting
slagged, so I'm entering this one small piece of info that was left out
of the info that has been posted...all the money from this venture (steep
as it is...) is going to charity.
2489.5CAVLRY::BUCKWhen the right one comes alongWed Apr 15 1992 13:027
    I worked for the Minor Chord for several years. All I'll say is... (MY
    PERSONAL OPINION) that I don't think Bill Brown would bother with the
    hassle of the whole event if his little ole pocket wasn't getting
    something for his troubles. That guy doesn't do favors for ANYONE!!

    Q: does Ronnie's $45.00 for a 45 min lesson go to charity, too?

	Perhaps this should have a note of its own, but it might be ok here.

	Jeff Berlin is going to be at the Peabody, MA Daddy's store at 7pm
	on April 21st. Tickets are $5 and available from Daddy's in
	Peabody, and Boston, MA and Portsmouth and Salem, NH. Fwiw, the
	appearance is sponsored by Peavey.

    Jeff Berlin will also be at Union Music in Worcester for the same show
    sometime soon.
