| BTW, the guitar is a new Gibson SG, and it is white.
I am told that Gisbon uses a special finish, unlike others
that is breathable and pourous. A friend of mine who owns
a music store told me not to use a reg. polyurethane type
spray unless I plan on refinishing the entire guitar. In
which case he does not recommend I do it myself.
I recall someone mentioning a guitar repair person located
near Spag's that seemed to be highly recommended. Anyone
know that person or place?
thanks, Mark.

There's always that lamination stuff. Its like a clear sheet of
lamination...its sticky on one side. I put it on my guitar to preserve
an autograph, but once its on, its hard to get off (real hard!), so
keep it in mind. You can get a sheet of lamination from any art or
paper supplies store.

That seems to be the easiest and best idea. I spoke to Richard
Stanley, he suggested something similar. He said to put a clear
tap plate on it. The guitar has no tap plates at all. He said
you can buy them cheap enough, and they are peel and stick. You
can cut them to any shape you want.
However you get only one chance of putting it on right and making
sure the surface is clean, dust free, and you have to put it on
so that you get no air bubbles inside.
I decided to have him do it, since he has worked with the stuff
many times, I don't want to blow my one shot. He will charge me
his minimum fee of $35, which is his minimum charge to do anything.
That will include the cost of the material. The way I figure $35
is nothing to preserve something I will probably never have
another oppurtunity to get.
Thanks, Mark.
