If the prices are unreasonable, buy elsewhere. I have a friend who is a very small Amiga dealer. I'm sure he'd be happy to sell you stuff at Commodore U.S. list prices, plus shipping. John Sauter

re: .2 John, prices are not unreasonable in themselves; but competition and choice motivate the question. (I saw a super VGA frame grabber that supports IFF for the PS2/30 for $699 yesterday, and probably the PC deluxe paint will handle it - we're talking about aprox. parity for a LIST $1,999 IBM small packaging) The world changed!

The PS2/30 uses the same buss as a PC/AT, if I remember correctly. I wonder if the VGA frame grabber would work on a BridgeBoard? John Sauter

P.S. I remember that you have driver software in the kit. It runs on clones as well.

I saw an add in the April issue of Personal Publishing. The board is "Publisher's VGA" from Willow Peripherals. It is advertized as a VGA board, and frame-grabber in one package. 640 x 480 16 colors 320 x 200 256 colors (256K) 1024 x 780 16 colors or 800 x 600 256 colors (512K) Supports TIFF,PCX,IFF,EPS formats, and "Once saved, enhance the image with software packages like Deluxe Paint II,and Publisher's Paintbrush".The ad stated it was 100% register, and BIOS compatible, supported preceding video standards. It will run on any IBM PC,XT,AT,PS/2 model 25,30 or compatible. It also stated the capture speed as 1/60th of a second.Price $699.00 .I don't have a bridge board so I won't be racing out to buy one.I have Digiview,Grabbit, and may pick up a Frame-grabber someday. It is encouraging to see a clone product that supports IFF.As for price it looks attractive, but I can buy a dedicated Frame-Grabber for less. The VGA is added in but then,it should be.If you have VGA already you may save space in the box but If I recall the adds in computer shopper correctly it is an expensive option to have laying on the desk. re: .7 I wonder if Max Toy had anything to do with having it support IFF? He's been talking about the use of a bridgeboarded A2000 in business applications. If I had a bridgeboard and was looking for a VGA board to add to it... and found one that also did framegrabbing in IFF format, do you suppose that might sway me to buying it instead of a mere VGA board? -Dave |
