4883.0. "what is a A520 ? (Sorry if stupid question)" by TRUCKS::BUSSINK_E (Erik Bussink, @SBP , 7-782-2272) Wed Jul 10 1991 09:12

Could anybow explain what an A520 is ? where to find them ? and their
prize ? I recall they are some kind of video signal transformer for
    the video.

A A520 plugs into the 23pin Video connector on the Amiga and supplies
RF Video NTSC and PAL I think. It also has an input for sound. It was
intended for the low end Amiga to allow the use of a TV as a monitor. But
I use it as a cheap way of getting Amiga Graphics onto Video.

It cost me $50.00 at a local Amiga store.

If you have a VR241 you can make up a cable that uses the passthrough feature
of the VR241 to connect the A520 up to the Amiga along with the VR241. The
cable is in this notes conferance.

The A520 I had, only did NTSC. It takes the 23 pin video on the
Amiga and provides both RF video and composite.

I suspect as was suggested elsewhere recently that the A520 produces either
PAL ot NTSC depending on the market it is being sold in. Mine is definitly PAL
as it manages to feed into my PAL VCR.

Does somebody know which signals the A520 uses from the 23 pin
connector? Since I want to make a extension cable between the A520 and
the video connector of the A500 on the back. I assume that the RGB
signals are used and one the power supply signals (+12V or +5V), or
are some of the synch signals needed as well?
