2282.0. "Need external 3" drive" by MTWAIN::WOODS (George Woods DTN 223-9971) Mon Feb 27 1989 12:02

    I'm in the market for an external 3" drive for my A1000. New or
    used will do.  Any recommendations?

    I have a friend who is trying to get rid of some 3.25" drives.
    He also has a lot of disks for it.

    I'm selling my 3.25" Air Drive (see note 2249). It is still available
    if you are interested. The drive has a extra long cable 30", dust cover
    door, and pass thru connector. I am asking $150 (negotiable).
    I originally paid $180 for it from The Software Shop.

    What is a 3.25" inch drive?

    A 3.25" drive uses disks a little smaller than the standard 3.5" disks,
    and incompatible with them. There was a time when the 3.5 and 3.25
    drives competed with each other, but the 3.5 won, so the 3.25 isn't
    very popular now.

2282.6What are those, we asked!WJG::GUINEAUWed Mar 01 1989 10:487
Maybe that's what those "Micro floppies" I saw at Caldor last night were.

They were not square like the 3.5" one's, but rather more rectangular.

They were also $50 a box!

    Some AMSTRAD systems here (and SCHNEIDER on the continent) use a
    very strange 3" disk. it's kinda oblong. Does Mr. Sugar (AMSTRAD)
    sell products in the US ?

    I now have an A1010 drive.  Yeah, it's a 3-1/2" drive, not 3" and
    not 3-1/4."  Thanks for comments.
