3420.0. "A1000 MID-LIFE KICKER?????" by POLAR::GOSLING () Thu Feb 01 1990 17:42

Anyone heard what is happening on either the Australian
motherboard front, or the U.S. rejuvinator front? Given all the
hype and the promises of products for the Christmas - early 1990
timeframe, I would have thought there would be some news -
positive or negative! The former hopefully.

       Thanks

3420.1Usenet news..PUERTO::ALVAREZSo much work to do...so little timeThu Feb 01 1990 18:5012
I read a usenet article today where one person claims to have
talked with the designer of the rejuvenator (Gregg Tibbs ?) and
that the pcb layout will be finished this weekend, with hopefully
having prototypes to sell in three-four weeks , I believe.

Cost was unknown, pending promises that Commodore would sell
some chips they needed, but so far, haven't been able to obtain
    a firm commitment from CBM.

That was my understanding after reading the note.

3420.2Phoenix lives !AMIGA2::MCGHIEThank Heaven for small Murphys !Fri Feb 02 1990 04:1919
    Hi Guys,

Sorry about not updating the project without the prompt, but ...

yes the Phoenix project is well under way. Apparently the had hundreds
of responses so they are busily setting up a new company getting proper
    CAD equipment etc.

I got a newsletter in the Mail a few weeks ago. However things have
been rather busy for me over the last few months (work mainly and a new
baby at home - yes another Amiga user!).

Anybody out there respond to the original request for deposits etc ?

I can only assume that people are interested in updates as I receive
them. I seem to be on the mailing list at the moment.

    Regards
    	Mike

Talked to Greg Tibbs at our user group meeting last night (where I
was asleep enough to accept the nomination for president in
next months election :-)), and here is the latest on the
Rejuvinator project.

The final 4-layer design will be done by this weekend. Starting next
week, we are going to have an initial batch of 25 boards made up (he
is that confident in his design that he is not even going to
proto it again ;-)). Then we will enter beta-testing (if we can
find anyone to test it (GRIN GRIN)). We still plan on being
at AmiExpo D.C. and hope to have full production models to sell.

Price is still uncertain as we cannot get an answer from Commodore
as to the price of the needed chips that they offered to sell
to Greg a month or so ago (they NEVER return phone calls :-( ).

So, that is about the latest. Look for mailings to start sometime
next week.

Regards,

George (please take his access away ;-)) Gibeau

Spent about 9 hours with Greg Tibbs Saturday night, and have some
info to pass on.

We will tentatively be at AmiExpo in Washington D.C. (March 16-18)
and will have board available at the show. We should have
a booth under the name of Expert Services.

The board will be sold as 2 models.

1) A fully populated board (1 meg ram, 1-meg agnus chip, etc..) everything
but a new Paula and Denise chip for $499.95 (hey, the psychological
under an even number trick :-)).

and

2) a semi-populated board (no RAM nor Agnus chip) for $350.

We should have about 25-50 completed boards and about 50-100
kits (that can very quickly be converted :-)).

Stay tuned for more details...

George
