651.0. "strange problem" by TRUMAN::LEIMBERGER () Tue Aug 18 1987 09:49

I have experianced an unusall problem on my Amiga . While typing in the
following command file (taken from Amiga World)every time I reach the point
marked by "^" I get a software error and a guru .I am using Uemacs from
the 1.2 basic disk .I am running popcli in the background ,and have VD0:
available . I have tried using both DF1:/s,and VD0: as default directories
with no difference .At one point df1: became unusable and I had to run 
Diskdoctor to salvage the disk . Diskdoctor told me It deleted an unreadable
file in df1:/s . I assume this was the file I was editing . I then took
a rebuilt disk and tried again with the same error,at which time I gave
up .The same night I had used VT100 to download file without problems .
I have 512k on the Amiga . Any Ideas?

I believe it was track 43 that was blown on the disk .

    I received an update to Multi-Forth that refered to a bug known
    by C-A in the 1.2 disk firmware that can result in blown disks,
    to be fixed in 1.3.  I'll get details tonight and post.  John

There is a known bug in AmigaDOS that a request to sleep for zero time
will trash a particular track on the disk.
