| I have used DeluxePaint to create some animation that was later
combined with other effects to create the promotional spots for
DECworld TV, as shown at DECworld. The animation was transfered
to VHS, then dubbed to 3/4" for editing on to 1" tape. I could
have gone directly to 3/4" as Jim does, if I had the time. Given
the schedule for DECworld, this was not possible. Going to VHS
first 'softened' the images, helping get rid of lo-res jaggies.
I have also used Aegis Images/Animator to create simple animated
storyboard sequences to 'pre-test' them before creating them using
more expensive hardware.
These are great tools, and quite easy to learn. Together, they
can create some very interesting effects, for a very low cost (compared
to professional 'paint box' systems.) They allow me to try out
different ideas for evaluation before producing them using more
costly processes.
Although i do this stuff for a living, I find it is a lot of fun
just experimenting too.

| The AMIGA really added to the video production I produced for Digital's
Internal Data Center Managers Forum (IDCMF). The video was on System
Performance Analysis and contained a great deal of text, with some graphic
pictures (there would have been more if I had more time). Everyone was
impressed with the AMIGA DeluxePaint text graphics and some other "poor man's
special effects", such as using the mouse to move text around on-camera.
I also used color cycling to simulate motion. It really transferred well to
3/4" video. In my sideline video production business, the AMIGA is one hot
number. I can produce customized graphics for any production as well as using
the various fonts for classy titling. I also expect to use the sound and
voice features at some point in my video production work. As Randy has said,
this relatively low-priced "home" PC rivals some of the work done on
"paintboxes" costing much, much more (tens of $K). I can't wait for the
genlock option.....
