2142.0. "DEC and ESOP?" by USCTR1::JHERNBERG () Fri Oct 02 1992 16:27

Just an idea, if some of the asset disposal that BP was talking
about turns out to be discrete businesses, such as Greenville,
how many DEC employees would buy into a ESOP like arrangement?

And a semi-related interest, if K.O. were to start some type of
computer/network type of business, how much interest among DECcies
do you think there were be to join the enterprise?

I once lived in an area of the country that was hit worse than
New England by industry wide slumps and some of the plants/businesses
went ESOP (the largest being Pgh-Wheeling Steel which went from
red to black in one year). Kinda wonder if the same thing could
    happen here?

    Suggestions, comments, ideas....

It would depend on his business plan. The man is brilliant but I'm
not about to bet my future on blind trust. Ken has messed up at least
once. If the plan were good though I suspect that lots of people would
	go to work for KO.

KO messed up when he trusted some people he probably shouldn't have,
and when he stopped listening to the customers and started listening
to the feather merchants on his staff. I believe that he'd make a
super CEO and front man for a new start-up. It all depends on whether
his recent experiences have permanently soured him ...

ESOP was the deal back about 5 years ago where DEC gave employees
    stock,wasn't it?
