4272.0. "Web sites powered by Digital" by MROA::SCHAVONE (SBU Internet Unit) Mon Nov 13 1995 11:41

    Mods;

    Please delete if this request is inappropriate for this conference.

    This request will be cross-posted in the Internet_tools conference as
    well.

    I am trying to develop a list of WWW sites that use Digital products to
    run the site.

    I will probably develop two lists; the first will be known sites that
    are powered by Digital products, and the second list will be sites that
    proclaim; "Powered by Digital Alpha (or Vax) products"

    Please post here or send me mail at MROA::SCHAVONE

    Thanks,
    Ray

        I just heard from a Microsoft rep himself (at at IBG meeting)
        that those servers are COMPAQ. I believe the Windows 95
        launch system was on Prioris. Also we manage some part of
        the Microsoft Network.

4272.10 NASA KSC uses Alphas for WWWODIXIE::GARAVANOMon Nov 13 1995 21:287
    The Web master for NASA Kennedy Space Center is 4 alpha RM 2100's -
    I think the main WEB is www.titan.ksc.com - just dial into NASA KSC to
    verify - but I KNOW they are Alpha's I sold them and support them - and
    the customer would not have anything else for love nor money on Launch
    day!!!!!!!! We should all be proud of our Alpha's - they are the
    WWW workhorses - look on the WEB - if it has to stay up - its an Alpha!

    	Nothing, but nothing is hotter than the Internet and WWW these
    days, and we sit here going da-da-da...

    	It really fries me no end that our entire mission in the field
    sales force is to do marketing's job for them. I'd put all those

the '95 California Election web server project, which
was hosted on three 2100's. We should have more ads
(and projects) like that.

    Folks;

    This is great! I'm passing this information onto the customer
    testimonials group so they can contact these customers and develop
    testimonials for corporate and the field to use in promoting our
    Internet products.

    BTW, if you know of any accounts that would be willing to provide a
    testimonial, or if you need testimonials to help close business,
    you can cojntact Susan Shapiro or Pat Garifoli @MRO.

    Internet America, Texas' largest internet provider, runs most of their
    operation on Alpha 2100/4-275. They advertise the Alphas off their
    home page, including a picture of a server, and a link to the Digital

With the rapidly increasing number of Web sites for phone sex and other XXX
material, I would rather *not* know how many sites are powered by Digital
Equipment!

Be careful what you seek. You may not like what you find!

    This is good stuff. What about a marketing program targetting the
    internet providers out there? If we are as good as we say, it sounds
    like an opportunity to penetrate new accounts (maybe some small ones,
    but that is what our partners are for right?) In a recent Computer
    Paper, there was alisting of internet providers in the Toronto area.
    It included the continent-wide ones like Compuserver et al, but in
    total there were approx. 25 of them!
    Opportunity a knockin' !

    The background is scattered with loads of URLs powered by Alpha.

re The Whitehouse:

The guy who runs the Whitehouse web site was at a DECUS LUG meeting in DC
last summer. I'm not 100% sure, but I think he said they were using Alpha
NT systems. Don't say it without checking, though, since as I say, I'm not
sure.
