3552.0. "DESKPRO ? a Digital platform?" by BRAT::WOOD (P. Wood) Tue Dec 06 1994 13:16

    DESKPRO?

Has anyone heard of a platform, supposedly a Digital platform, known as
DESKPRO? If so, can you point me to some info on it?

    Thanks.

A number of systems made by COMPAQ called DESKPRO. Some limited
information on interoperability is on TIMA, but not sure that is what
you are looking for. Do you have more information you can share?

The only info I can add is that one of our software partners claimed
sales on a platform called 'DESKPRO', and referred to it as a Digital
platform. Having never heard of DESKPRO as one of our products, and not
being able to find reference to it in any of our catalogs, etc, I
decided to ask here - where the real knowledge repository is!

Thanks for your mail message and response here.

Check out the information repository VTX IR. Enter DESKPRO as you
search word and you will receive a menu of selections.

DESKPRO is Compaq, as are PROLIANT and PROSIGNIA
I would have doubt that we would name a range of systems after a
competitor's range, particularly when it is the industry's most successful
IBM-PC Compatible branding campaign.

Digital has PRIORIS,CELEBRIS,VENTURIS and HI-NOTE as the latest range.
Contact your local PCBU people for details.

actually, shortly after we came out with the DECpc XL line,
Compaq introduced their DESKPRO XL line....if you compare the two,
	there are some interesting similarities.......
