    The following is from a Customer I work with.  I do not remember the
    LA324 but apparently it uses a mulit-color ribbon.  The Customer uses a
    black one and wants to use the complete ribbon.  If anyone can direct
    me to a Users/Program Manual I would appreciate it.  
    
    We need to be able to utilize all of a LA324 ribbon.  Only one part 
    of the multi-part ribbon is being used. We don't have any LA324
    manuals and don't know what commands are available to select ribbon
    options.

    If I understand your question correctly, your customer has a black
    ribbon, that is only using a small portion of the ribbon. If this is
    the problem, then they probably have the color ribbon selected in the
    setup. If the black ribbon is selected the printer should use the
    entire ribbon. If they go into the printer setup, and change this to
    reflect the proper ribbon, this should fix that problem. I work on
    la324's & 424's just about every day, if you have further ???'s give me
