2421.0. "DEC real estate question" by SUBWAY::BERGER () Wed Mar 17 1993 17:37

I know of someone who might want to purchase a house in Mass. Does
anyone know how I can put him in touch with the people at Digital
who are responsible for selling the houses DEC has in inventory?

With all the relocations a year or so a go I would imagine that
DEC would be quite a large, though unwilling, real estate investor.

DEC doesn't actually own any houses - it contracts with various companies
to provide this service for them. I suspect a call to any personel dept
could get you in touch with the relocation person who would know the
latest on the situation.

The third party program is the one that handles all the real estate for
DEC. This third party is usually Prudential Relocation Management.
However, they do not sell real estate due to the fact that they are not
in that business. Prudential usually subcontract a local (in this
case a Mass. based) real estate broker. The persons I contacted were
Pat Dufour (US Personnel) DTN: 223-9461 or Terry Salamone (US
    Personnel) DTN: 223-8587.

A list of DEC properties for sale and who to contact on each one used
to be in VTX. Look there. It listed them by state and rooms, etc.

DEC properties are no longer listed in VTX.

From a note mentioned in REAL_ESTATE, I called the DEC person handling
Digital properties. She indicated that it is a small list, but she
will e-mail the list to me. I forget her name (Alice something), but
her name and number is posted in REAL_ESTATE.

Does this mean that Homequity is no longer used by Digital? I relocated three
times with them and had the same problems all three times. By the third time I
anticipated the problems so I was able to essentially circumvent them... :-)

    RE: .7

It's more than likely a reflection of the lack of relocation activity
lately. Homequity may still be around, but they may not be getting much
    business from DEC lately.

I'm in the process of relo'g to Dallas and am also in the process of
having Digital third party (aka "Prudential") purchase my home in
Acton, MA. Perhaps the "party" who is transferring to MA might like to
investigate making a three-party mutually beneficial deal. If so,
please have that person contact me directly.
