671.0. "Do DEC's corporate contributions benefit employees?" by IND::MISRAHI (This page intentionally left Blank) Thu Dec 01 1988 12:30

When a company makes large (or frequent) donations to institutions,
(e.g. museums ), often the employees of that company may get free or
    reduced admission.

    Does DIGITAL do this ?

DEC give a bunch of money to the Museum Of Science in Boston and
I believe that reduced price tickets are available through Personnel
of local employee activity groups. I have a membership of my own so
I haven't looked into that particular benifit.

I believe that once of twice a year Sterbridge Village (also in MA)
has low priced or free entry for DEC employees because of DECs
	contributions.

There may be others. Check with Personnel. They should know.

I fell for the Sturbridge Village thing. It's called "Corporate
Appreciation" Week or whatever; to get the reduced ticvkets, show
your badge. However, this seems to work for _any_ corporation (I
saw some Raytheon employees doing the Village, too). They held
this in one of the worsdt winter months, with half the exhibits
inoperative; my poor wife almost froze, the car got salt encrusted,
and the tours of the buildings were like tours of any early settlement
(ther tour of the so-called "Witch House" in Salem Mass. [misnamed; it
had nothing to do with witches except it held one of the judges
that tried them] was at least as interesting.

You can (could?) get into "The Computer Museum" on your DEC badge.

There is a discount on entry to Battleship cove for DEC employees
Show you badge, they also seem to discount for your dependents.

In Minnesota Digital sponsored display on robotics at the Science
museum in St. Paul. The DEC employees in the Area got free admission
to the museum and had coffee and rolls for the employee and their
    families one Saturday mourning.

Steve, it's too bad you had a less than pleasent experience at
Sturbridge Village. I too attended their Corporation Appreciation
Day in April of this year, and we had a wonderful time. The weather
was warm enough (50), and the 'exhibits' were all open. My children
(ages 3,4,5,9) enjoyed their day, and we plan to return next year.

    (it is free)

I believe that one can get reduced-price tickets for OSV for _any_
time. The Corporate Appreciation Day was a freebie, wasn't it?

Try OSV in October. It's great. I did a research project there
in college, and got to visit the village many, many, many times
    for free.

I guess it made quite an impression on me ...
I'm getting married in the Village Meetinghouse next June.

I got into the Children's Museum in Boston by just showing my
badge. The other members of my party got in too, another adult,
and 2 kids. Saved us about $16-18. DEC is a corporate sponsor.
