536.0. "One company, many petty cashes" by ARCHER::WASSERMAN (Deb Wasserman DTN 272-7424) Thu May 12 1988 14:27

I tried to cash an advance at Petty Cash in Chelmsford and was told
I couldn't do it because it was signed by a manager in Nashua.
They said his badge number won't show up on ledger. What ever happened
to 'one company, one message'? Can anyone explain this?

This is bean counter stuff so I can't explain all the logic
but it appears to have something to do with local petty cash
offices each having a list of the managers local to that
facility who are authorized to sign petty cash forms. If the
name isn't on the list they can't cash the form.

I have cashed forms in ZKO signed by my NIO based boss so this
doesn't always hold true. If I were a negative sort I'd ask if
the Chelmsford location is run by manufacturing. Engineering
run facilities appear to have rules that make more sense (ie.
let me cash petty cash vouchers away from home) then manufacturing
    facilities.

I've handled advances and expense vouchers at petty cash locations other than
the one where the manager with signature authority is located on many occasions.
There is supposed to be a corporate data base with all the signature info.

One important thing to note: No matter what, you *must* clear an expense
voucher at the same location you obtained the advance. Advances are temporarily
charged to the local petty cash office's cost center.
