81.0. "Discussion of Employees Here" by NY1MM::SWEENEY () Mon Jan 27 1986 12:44

The discussion of particular behavior of employees in this file and the
resulting criticism and comments should stop right now.

I'm not the moderator of this file. I'm just using the platform file provides
to make my point.

While we can agree and disagree in the abstract on what is the Digital style
of working, when it comes to what's actually happenned we begin to interfere.
We get between an employee and his or her manager, between the customer and
Digital. This is dangerous territory. Even if the employee or customer
is anonymous.

We don't have all the facts. We're not in a position to judge. In fact, we're
only in a position to expose and embarrass Digital.

Just as we treat details of performance and price of new products confidential,
we ought to treat the specific foibles of our employees out of files. Not only
out of respect for the individuals involved, but out of concern for Digital.

Maybe you can start a file called "GOSSIP" for the purpose of such discussions
but they don't belong here.

I agree completely with Pat. Unless you know the customer, the strategy
that is being worked (by both DEC and the customer), you cannot judge what
is being done. In some cases what appears to be gross misconduct is not
once all the facts are known.

It is only up to the local management, and not us, to determine if an
employee is doing his/her job.

I agree with that, there seems to be more criticism and comments
on certain DECeees between us in this files most lately, I think
this should stop right away, it might have to do with the increased
stress tensions in the air, but we should not tolerates it by any
    means possible.

Nasser, you seem to be bored at the moment, going through the
    conference, answering 6 year-old notes....
