3226.0. "Child Entity Icons ?" by SAC::BRYAN_F () Mon Jun 22 1992 13:09

	Can you tell me how you get customised icons for child entities
 	on the map ? If there a specific icon filename that will display
	the icon in the toolbox ? Or if not, is it possible to modify the
        mapfile to change the object type and add an icon filename ?

	Thanks - Francis.

Do you want a new icon when putting a child on the parent level
map, or do you want these icons when zooming into a global
entity?
3226.2Parent LevelSAC::BRYAN_FMon Jun 22 1992 16:595
    I wish to add a child onto the parent level map. For example use an
    SNMP child entity from a LAN POD private MIB, representing Ethernet
    utilization, and put this into a higher level domain.

    Thanks - Francis.
3226.3MB2 -> LOOKUP...CTHQ1::WOODCOCKMon Jun 22 1992 17:5210
    Hi Francis,

This one got me for awhile too. Once you click APPLY and IMPM tells you to
move pointer to map and click, try this. Move mouse to map and hit
MB2 -> LOOK UP. This brings you back up to the parent level, then put in your
LINE or ICON. Is this what you wanted???

best regards,
brad...

3226.4ClarificationSAC::BRYAN_FTue Jun 23 1992 12:118
    Brad,

    I can get the child entity represented on any map I like OK. However I
    have only got the choice of the standard toolbox options (line, circle,
    rectangle) to represent the object. I want to select my own customised
    icon. I hope this makes it clear.

    Francis,

Now I see what you are looking to do. I just poked around myself and there
doesn't seem to be a way of using your own icons at the sub-entity level. Your
answer is best left to those more in the 'know' than myself as to whether there
is a method today or for the future.

best regards,
brad...

Is it now possible to use self made icons for child entities in a domain map ?

A partner company would like to use this feature for their own AM, which will
be developped in the next months.

    Did this get implemented in V1.3, I do not see any mention of how
    to do it in the documentation ?

    Thanks - Francis.
