Hi, I have been using DECmcc Fairly extensively now for the last month and would like to give the developers some feedback. First, NICE JOB!! All in all I really like the product (especially EFT 1.2!) My only real complaint has to do with autotopologies and the fact that to have it do a full registration for both TCP/IP & DECnet you have to already have the node name & address already defined in your REMOTE_NODE.DAT or HOST file. While I guess I can sort of understand the logic in this (you don't want to assume that the user that is running autoconfig has access to the node database. I strongly suggest that this be considered as an optional prompt. I have discussed this with several customers and they don't want to know the reasons why they shouldn't do this they just assume it will do it and are subsequentially disapointed (in the product) when it doesn't. Regards, Peter Lamb

Wow! I hope the same is true for TCP/IP! Ask and you shall receive! Does the current base level by any chance have this functionality?? Thanks! Peter | |||||

Alas, the SNMP AM will not be providing this function in V1.2. > Does the current base level by any chance have this functionality?? I think this is in X1.2.15 on VMS, and will be in the next update (whatever that is) on ULTRIX. -- Erik |
