2379.0. "Sho statistic --> Invalid handle parameter" by ZUR01::SCHNEIDERR () Thu Feb 20 1992 13:01

Hello,

If this question is already posted, could you point me to the notes entry?

I tried to do a SHO NODE4 ... STATISTIC from historical recorded datas, via the
Iconic map PM and I click "stop operation" instead of "next". Now I get the
message "software error, invalid handle parameter".

Hey friends out in the DECmcc world, ---- whats that---?

we, here in DECmcc engineering call that a "bug".

Thanks for finding and reporting it.

Roland,

What version of DECmcc are you using?

Which platform are you running on?

Exactly what command are you executing?

Do you get the same result with the FCL if you stop mid-stream
while doing the command?

Thanx,
Verna

Verna,

We run VMS 5.4-2 and DECmcc V1.1 with all patches installed. I saw it on Motiv
and on DECwindows. HW is a VAXstation 3100/76 with 32 MB memory.

I've tried it only with the iconic PM and not with the FCL PM.

In the Performance Analyzer Manual is written on page 2-7 what partitions you
should record for the statistical reports from recorded datas.

We do a record for node4, node4 line, node4 circuit on partition * (all).

I do the following commands and get the following messages:

MCC> show node4 zhss05 circ isa-0 all statistics, for start=(31-mar-1992-18:00)-

Whit the IMAM this commands are working. By the way the example command in the
performance manual on page 2-7 doesn't work. There is a bracket to much.

A lot of work has been done on the alert and handle management of DECmcc
recently. This system wide effort has been addres primarily at these
invalid handle errors on cancel.

While we cannot definitively conclude that the alert problem is 100% gone,
we are no longer able to reproduce this particular problem, and it was attacked
specifically.
