2236.0. "ALARMS FM EFT V1.2 Retargeting on CREATE RULE ???" by TAEC::HAYES (A European Telecomet ...) Fri Jan 31 1992 08:51

	Hello,

The release notes say p 4-28, the target entity
is part of the characteristics partition of the rule
and that it is the DNS fullname for the entity you used when
you created the expression .

When we try to create an Alarm rule expression, the target entity
argument is not present !!.

Is that the way it should be ?

How can we or can we do retargeting using Alarm FM rules :

1) the MCC 0 ALARMS RULE entity ?
2) the DOMAIN RULE entity ?

PS : I read note 2082.1 carrefully

2236.1target entity in rule vs. retargetting functionsTOOK::CALLANDERMCC = My Constant CompanionTue Feb 04 1992 19:0727

Target entity is an output argument on the characteristics partition
for a domain rule. It is not explicitly set by the user, it is instead
inferred from the entity specified in the alarm rule.

For REtargetting, use the "assign target" command. This command
can then be reviewed using the "directory target". For retargetting of
    rules use:

    assign target domain <NAME>
    		event source = domain <NAME> rule <NAME> ,
managed object = "class instance" | "class #1",
event name = "osi rule fire"
target entity = "class instance" | "class #1",
    		target severity = severity

If you do this remember that the severity of the alarm rule will be
overriden by a target severity. If not target severity is set with the
assign command than the severity associated on rule creation will be
used. Please also note that the domain rule is the event source. The
managed object is the entity in the rule, you can use wildcards in
specifying the managed object, as well as assignment symbols. The
managed object is only required if you are using symbol substitution in
    the target entity.

    Hope this helps.
