2139.0. "minor impm question/bug" by NSCRUE::KEANE (U.S. NIS Service Development and Delivery) Fri Jan 17 1992 20:34

   I was doing various show commands in the impm for an snmp host's information.

   I found that I was able to double click on the tcp, ip, udp, and egp icons
and get lower level information although these icons do not show an ellipsis.

  I didn't see anything in the release notes on this.

  Thanks,
  Scott

2139.1This is how it works!BARREL::LEMMONThu Jan 23 1992 14:1214
    The iconic map is issuing a show ident on the children tcp, ip, udp,
    and egp. The SNMP am is returns a single instance of it. That is,
    there is no instance name. It is the actual instance so you can select
    it and perform an operation on it, lookinto it, etc...

    The elipses (CLASS...) mean that the iconic map hasn't retrieved the
    information yet. The user needs to double click into first. The
    values returned will be displayed underneath it.

    Jim,

    If this isn't clearly explained in the documentation maybe something
    could be added to make the explaination seem more intuitive to the
    user.

2139.3Thanks for the explanationNSCRUE::KEANEU.S. NIS Service Engineering and DeliveryFri Jan 24 1992 14:347

    Thanks for the explanation. The concept seems reasonable but when a user
first starts to look at this it appears as an inconsistency and that's why
the question popped up.
