556.0. "GETEVENT and adjacent node sub-entity" by SKYWAY::BICHSEL () Fri Dec 14 1990 13:45

I get a syntax error in EVENT ID when performing a

GETEVENT NODE4 instance CIRCUIT ADJACENT NODE

command. LINE, CIRTCUIT and REMOTE NODE are working well. What
would be the correct command syntax (I tried various versions without
any success - for example, GETEVENT NODE4 instance ADJACENT NODE).

the full entity instance for adjacent node is
NODE4 node-id CIRCUIT circuit id ADJACENT NODE node-id

if you're using that without success, then the next step is to see
if the command will take a node address to identify the adjacent node
instead of a node name. (anything to narrow down the problem)

If the previous 2 suggestions don't work, then I suggest sending mail
to TOOK::JEAN_LEE for advice on the command format.

.1 is correct. For all three entity classes specified, you must supply
    an instance or a wildcard.

Then you can work with the event: prompt to decide which event you'd
    like to supply.

From the input you gave us, I'm not even sure what is being parsed as
an "invalid Event ID", I'd like to see an example of a real command
that you have failing in this manner.

    Thanks,

another hint is to make use of the FCL. enter forms mode (use mode
forms) and then type GETEVENT on the verb line. You can then use
the PF2 key to figure out the rest of the command line.

Getting help on entities, you will have an "*" anywhere that you
have to enter an entity instance name.

Getting help on the arguments line will tell you just what you can
enter, and for those commands that arguments are required, and "="
is placed next to each required argument.
