455.0. "VMS V5.4 and DECmcc EMS/BMS?" by TAZBOY::ZIGLER (Tom Zigler, DTN 432-7541) Mon Nov 05 1990 15:07

    My current DECmcc EMS/BMS VAXstation 3100 Mod 30 configuration (VMS V5.3)
    has the following software installed:

    	DECmcc EMS V1.0
    	DECmcc BMS V1.0 (SSB) (DECmcc DECnet Diagnostic and SNMP modules)
    	UCX V1.2
    	DNS V1.1
    	DECelms V1.0
    	DEC SoftPC V1.X

    We are planning to migrate to a VAXstation 3100 Mod76 with the
    following configuration:

    	(2) RZ24 disk drives
    	(2) RZ57 disk drives
    	(1) TZ30 tape drive
    	(1) RX23 floppy drive
    	32MB memory
    	SPX 8-plane Sony Trinitron 19" Color Monitor

    1) Since VMS V5.4 is required, is anyone reporting any problems with
    running the above software on VMS V5.4? What about running the DECmcc
    BMS V1.1 EFT software on VMS V5.4?

    2) For ease of system management, I would like to keep ALL of the
    DECmcc BMS files on the RZ57 system disk. However, by keeping all MCC
    files on the system disk, will I experience any SIGNIFICANT I/O performance
    degradation, especially in later releases involving the HISTORIAN, etc?

    Please advise.

    			\Thanks in Advance

455.1note 454 was the only one I sawGOSTE::CALLANDERMon Nov 26 1990 12:299

    So far, but I am still catching up on the notes I missed while out
    ill, I have only seen one note recently that was specific to 5.4.
    That is note 454, and the problems were when setting display from
    one decwindows system to another. My understanding is that the fix
    for that was being worked for the EFT release due out momentarily.
