408.0. "Trivia Question" by DEVLPR::KETT () Fri Jun 24 1994 19:20

    Trivia question: Someone asserted to me yesterday that there were only
    6 teams in the English FA that had an "x" in their names. I got:

    	Exeter
    	Wrexham
    	Crewe Alexandra
    	Halifax
    	Oxford

    - and then got stuck. What's the 6th one?

    Chatting over lunch, a colleague mentioned that he had been to the

In football history in what seasons have major teams from the same city
won major trophies??

For example, in what seasons have both Liverpool and Everton won trophies?
Or Manchester City and Manchester United?

I ask this question following Evertons win yesterday to reach the FA Cup
Final.

    ball to his left,for his teammate No8 who has timed his run so he did
    not enter the box untill No9 had touched he ball,he "No8" then runs on
    to the ball intending to score ,the GK has then started to follow the
    ball,when No8 then squares the ball back to No9,who tucks the ball int

A penalty is just a special form of a direct free-kick. The only thing
to avoid in no.9 keeping onside.

408.53No goalWOTVAX::HARDYPFri May 26 1995 02:3013
    Greg,

    No goal on two points:

    1) the kick must be 'forwards' not sidewards

    2) if no 8 entered the penalty area just as the kick was taken it was
    too soon. He must wait until the ball is in play and that means it's
    travelled its own circumferance.

    You can then book 8 & 9 for arguing ;-}

the goal stands no problem, Johan Cruijff dit it once when playing for
Ajax, he played the ball to the left were Jesper Olsen was comming in,
Olsen played the ball back en Cruijff made the goal. I believe the
goalkeeper of Hemond Sport, Otto Varseveld, is still standing there
not knowing what had happened. The ref. allowed the goal without
hessitation.

    How about this one. It's a cup semi final and the game finishes
    a draw after extra time, so it goes to a penalty shoot out.

    The kicker hits the penalty, the ball hits the bar and is on the
    way back out, it hits the back of the keeper and goes in.

    In my opinion.... it's a goal!!! I saw this happen in world cup play
    and the goal stands. The play is dead only after the ball is out of
    bounds, in the net, or stopped by the keeper. The kicker can not kick
    it again, but since the goal is part of the field, it's like the ball
    hitting a stone and then going into the net as it bounces off the leg
    of the keeper.

    Because the Principality of Monaco has decided not to have a
    federation. Therefore the football activities of the Principality are
    ruled by the French Federation of Football (FFF).
    AS Monaco is then participating in the French Championship.
    There is no Monaco's national team.

    Second, I'm sorry about *MY* confusion around the town and the

    Secondly, when were England ever desperate enough to require the
