682.0. "Upper Deck 1964-65 Parkies Tall Boys Hockey" by PENUTS::JST_ONGE (John St.Onge USDSL DTN: 297-9527) Sun Dec 18 1994 11:25

Picked up a box of (1994) 1964-65 Parkies Tall Boys. 24 Packs per box
and 10 cards per pack. Basic set is 180 cards. Two of the cards are
checklists. There are some insert sets like Future Stars, American
Greats, Canadian Greats. There are also several subsets such as first
and second team All-Stars, Trophy winners, action cards and playoff
cards. Cards are pretty cool with solid color coded backgrounds for
each team (ie. Bruins yellow, Canadiens red etc.). Cards are also the
old cardborad style with no UV coating. Packs are also real wax packs
except they're sealed like newer packs today.

I was able to get a set out of the box and almost a complete extra
set of the subsets. Overall a very nice set and I give it four out of
five sticks on the Gum-o-meter. Worth picking up a set in my opinion.

I also picked up a box of these....I really like them, much better
than the reprints from last year. The taller cards added with the
color really make these a neat set...Wasn't as lucky as John, I
still need some cards to complete my set...Got 1 Future Star
    	(Rogie Vachon FS-5).....

Hey .. where did you guys get your box? How much did they cost?
Hopefully we can trade our way to complete sets for everyone. (My
favorite store says his come in on Wednesday ... don't know the price
    yet)

    Thanks,

Rotmans in Worcester has them for around $48-$49/box.
They still had some available yesterday, so hopefully they still
    have them.

I paid 49$ for the box. I thought it was expensive for only 24 packs,
but at least the collation was good for once. Nowadays for these
prices you expect to get pretty close to a set. I got a Bernie Parent
Future Star in my box. I know Derek Sanderson is another one. I won-
der if Bobby Orr is in the set also.

I got a box last night for $59 at Hall's in Arlington. I was lucky and
got a complete set. My future star was Gerry Cheevers (FS-2).

682.8Nice cards...AWECIM::MCAULIFFEThu Jan 12 1995 15:5217
I picked up two boxes at Rotman's (not sure if they have any left, this
was Dec 30). Boxes were $46.75 plus tax. Anyway, opened the first box
and pulled a Bobby Hull autograph card! Was I psyched! Card looked
like his regular card with yellow/gold background, but with a different
photo and a white box on the bottom where the autograph goes. Card is
numbered on the back, #274/984. Card is numbered A-3. In the second box,
pulled a Derek Sanderson Future star card.

I think they did a great job with these cards. A little over priced,
but... Only downfall was that I couldn't complete even *one* set
between two boxes (missing one card for the first, about 18 for the
    second).

Anyways, I hope they continue this theme, at least for the next
    year (Bobby Orr's rookie year?)
