    Does anyone know of an intelligible (for us lay-people) paper on
    partially-revealed Markov chains, also referred to as "hidden" Markov
    chains" as applied to speech recognition?  I understand that one
                                                                 ^ once
    the math is done the algorithm is fast enough to run on a PC and
    still give very good recognition characteristics.  Any help out
    there?
