Looking for the Notebook of Ramanujam Srinivas. Has this been
    published ?
              Thanx in advance

I think I've seen a reference to one (or more?) of his notebooks
for sale from Springer Verlag - to verify this you may want to
    check with that publisher.

I'm fairly sure that there are several notebooks, and not all have
    been translated yet.

The Springer-Verlag book is authored by Bruce Berndt (University of
Illinois) and another author (whose name I can't remember). The book
essentially contains proofs of theorems etc. given in Ramanujam's
notebooks. I think it covers only the first notebook, Prof. Berndt
   is working on the others.

It might help to look at the works of G.H. Hardy. I think he has one
titled "The collected papers of Ramanujam" or something similar.

I have a copy of the Hardy book buried somewhere in my basement - it should
also be available from the math library of most large universities, e.g.
Harvard. Where are you located?

    re.4:

I guess it will be focusing on Ramanujam, no?

Is "NOVA" (1) a TV emission or (2) a printed magazine?

If (1), is anybody out there who would volunteer to tape it and
send me a copy to Valbonne? If (2), buy a copy and mail it?

    Thanks.

> Is "NOVA" (1) a TV emission or (2) a printed magazine?

NOVA is a weekly public-TV program about Science issues.

Shipping a Videotape through French customs is a nontrivial exercise.

If a videotape is shipped in a standard Digital inter-office company
mail manila envelope, from US office to Valbonne office, is
Customs even in the path ?

Trying to view a U.S. videotape on a French TV is not likely to
be a productive thing to do. Doesn't NOVA offer transcripts, though?
832.9Standards and customs... don't worry!MANAEG::LEHKYR&A/D Project Mgr., Business Comms., ValbonneTue Mar 08 1988 12:3614
    re. -1, re. -2

If you send such a tape via DEC internal mail, no customs are involved.

We do have a video set here that reads and displays ANY standard.
The question about NOVA offering standard tape distribution services
    is of course very interesting.

So, anybody volunteering for taping? I promise that the sender gets
a 'virgin' tape back, in return.

Thanks for your help, in any case.

> I am at Wash Dc. Is Hardy circa 1950 name of the book ?

Sorry to overabbreviate. By " Hardy circa 1950 " I meant to convey "Some
book by G.H. Hardy with Ramanujan in the title, published near 1950". Since
you are in Washington, you can surely find it in the Library of Congress.

Check your local newspaper for TV listings for the Public Broadcasting
System channel. The stations frequently publish a listing of programs for
the coming month(s). Or just call the station and ask them when NOVA
programs appear on the station - they are usually the same time every week,
and around here twice a week - and the upcoming titles.

Good hunting!
