622.0. "Getting Even With Dad" by 42619::LIVINGSTONE (Survive! get a little crazy...) Mon Aug 22 1994 11:33

I guess this film hasn't had a mention because of its mediocrity.
It was a little disappointing, given the stars were McCaully
    Caulkin(sp?) and Ted Danson.
Ted Danson and his pals stole the acting honours from MC.
It was harmless enough and the kids thought it was *just* OK.
With all the other blockbuster films around it won't make much of an
impact. Only worth the rental if the kids like McCaully Caulkin.
I would say it was only slightly less disappointing than My Girl.
    My opinion.

I'd have to disagree here. I enjoyed "My Girl", and it was in
a completely different league than this (GEWD) film. This film
was relatively lamo, but not completely a waste of time because
as you mentioned some of the other performances were decent,
even though the plot was very weak.

Culkin however I fear is a ONE hit wonder (ie. "Home Alone",
and I stress ONE because the sequel was nothing more than
a remake of the 1st with a different setting). He's already
getting too old and has host the "cuteness". Once he hits
pubity (if he hasn't already) his career will be over ....

Oh, I don't know; I rather enjoyed him in Uncle Buck. Of course,
John Candy helped immensely.

I don't think he was in Uncle Buck. I believe that was his brother
(who's name escapes me, it's somthing like McCairen or whatever). His
brother is in a lot of movies. I think he was also the little brother
    in Father of the Bride.

FWIW, there was also an article I believe in this past Sunday's
Nashua Telegraph from a critic that also believes Culkin is
going down hill. He's getting too old to be "cute" and too young
to be a "teen idol" (seems teenage girls like older men like
Christian Slater and Brad Pitt). They also gave a rundown of
the declicing box office revenues of his film career.

"Richie Rich" may save him (for now) because they said it
returns him to what people expect (ie. Culkin is sterotyped
as a "Home Alone" type character).

I'm pretty sure it WAS McCauley in "Uncle Buck".

MacCauley Culkin was in Uncle Buck, which is several years old. His
little brother Kieran would have been too young to do it.
622.7And now for the RazziesGMASEC::CLARKTue Feb 21 1995 00:593
Culkin is up for a Razzie as Worst Actor. Actually nominated for this
one, the Pagemaster and Richie Rich. He has tripled his chances at
being the Razzie recipient as Worst Actor.
