If this is based on the old tv show, I'm pretty sure there was already
a feature film back in the '60s, using the actors from the series. I
know I saw something of the sort as a child.

As a kid, I loved this show! Oh, Sandy!

The movie has been released already and stars Paul Hogan (Crocodile
Dundee) and Elijah Wood. AS much as I loved the show, I can't picture
running to the theatre to see this. It doesn't even have the same
premise. Paul Hogan may play a father figure but he's not a park
ranger and there is only one boy who gets to know Flipper.

I'm sure I'll see it on video though.

    p.s.

For those who are real Flipper fans, there is an updated version of the
show on t.v. that has Bud Ricks running some type of marine lab. I
have only caught 5 minutes of an episode and couldn't even tell you who
    stars in it.

Well when I was in the US about Feb time they were advertising it in
the cinema... it looked alright... but you can never really tell from
the clips... It was due for release about May/June time in the US.

Paul Hogan looked quite good from the clips.... I'd be interested to
find out what people in the US think....

    Cheers,

Checked in Halliwell's Guide. It describes "Flipper," 1963, dir. Ivan
Tors, as a "harmless boy-and-animal adventure that spawned two sequels
and a tv series." So it looks like a movie came first.

1075.6nah...let's go see Twister.SWAM1::MEUSE_DAWed May 22 1996 17:268

The Twister has more or less killed "Flipper".

Looks like bad timing for it's release.
