I suspect that the Police Academy video being released is the 7th (?)
in the series. A straight to video kinda thing. I think the real
title is something like "Police Academy: Goes to Moscow". Or something
    like that.

Entertainment Weekly mentioned it in their recent video release
    section.

Aren't purchase dates and rental dates the same?
Isn't it just when rental places get to buy the tapes?

> Aren't purchase dates and rental dates the same?

They may be the same, but not all tapes are "priced for
purchase [by the consumer]" (ie. you may have to pay $80+)

"Silence of the Hams" is a spoof that take story lines and scenes from
Hitcock's PSYCHO and Silence of the Lambs with the extra topical jokes
thrown in ala Naked Gun/Killer Instincts.

Can't remember the lead but Charlene Tilton is the secretary who got
done in the shower. Dom DeLuise (sp) is the Hannibal-character.
There are other stars and famous personalities on cameos.

Of course there are some scenes from Basic Instincts and other
    thrillers.

Quite enjoyable with some classic scenes and real bad taste jokes.

Recommended if it is on rentals.

Here's the lead players of Silence of the Hams; if you find these names
hilarious, then you'll probably like the movie.

  Martin Balsam ..................... Inspector Balsam
Dom DeLuise ....................... Dr. Animal Cannibal Pizza
  Ezio Greggio ...................... Antonio Motel
  Joanna Pacula ..................... Lily
  Charlene Tilton ................... Jane
Billy Zane ........................ Jo Dee Fostar

And a veritable disaster movie of celebrity cameos: Mel Brooks, Joe Dante,
Phyllis Diller, Larry Storch, Rip Taylor, and of course Shelley Winters.

I would imagine it's at least for rental (if not also for retail).

The BlockBuster I usually get the list from has the telephone
number (USA) 603-888-9020 if you want to give them a try.

remember for sure whether or not I saw it advertised.

    	I didn't know your husband's name was Michael ... that's quite

Yup, hubby is Michael. Our oldest, she's only 4, doesn't quite understand
why Daddy wears white makeup and white work overalls when he takes her out
trick or treating on Halloween 8^)

Wouldn't mind having some of the income generated by Mike Myers,
    either.

this recent release is the letterbox version.

i'm from the same town as bill pullman. he went to high
school with various aunts & uncles... he's just a bit
younger than my parents. his parents (both deceased)
still have some property with a cottage and pond about
2 miles from my parents house, and bill still comes
back every year for a vacation. he's been to our
house to use the phone... pretty cool.
