Lena Olin appeared in the disaster, Hanana, and is now in the film
" Romeo Is Bleeding " for which she recieved good reviews. Has anyone

Lena Olin is impressive in the movie - more as a presence than as an actress.
The movie itself is, well, a two hour music video without the music. Or maybe
an extended dream sequence, I dunno. Colander plot, many improbabilities,
moderate to heavy violence, lots of voiceover. But stylishly done. Keep the
nit-picking part of your brain away from the theatre and you'll probably like
it. I did, sort of...

I haven't seen this or Havana, but I thought she was good in The
Unbearable Lightness of Being. Was she also in Enemies, A Love Story?
Anway, if that was her, I thought she was good in that, too.

She stole "Romeo". It was a great part for her.

Yup, she was in 'Enemies, ...' and won a Supporting Actress Oscar
    nomination for her troubles.

I also noticed she was in a movie called "Scandal." Anyone seen this
movie? What did you think? It looked like it was several years old, so
how long has Lena been doing movies?

_Scandal_ was mid-80s, I think. Bridget Fonda co-starred, so it can't
    be too old.

re .7, Val Kilmer's wife (whatever her name is) was the other co-star,
from what I remember. Isn't that the one about the British
    politician/call-girl scandal of the 60's?

    Val Kilmer's wife:

Josie Whalley-Kilmer, or something like that (soon to be Scarlett in the
sequel to Gone With The Wind, I hear).

R.I.B. opens in the U.K. at the end of April. It looks intrigueing
(sp). Anyone know what the general idea of the film is?

As I understand it, the basic premise is that Lena Olin kicks Gary
Oldman around. He's a cop, she's a bitch (they say that on TV now, I
figured I could say that here. :)

Haven't seen it. It didn't seem to last too long in theaters.

Apparently, one of the plus points of the film is that Lena Olin spends
much of the time wandering around in her underwear...

My wife and I saw this last night, and didn't think much of it.

Moderately graphic violence, heavy exposition, extremely slow starting, lots
of plot holes.

But the biggest problem is that there are no sympathetic characters. The
main character spends lots of time "listening to the voices in my head
telling me to do things I know I shouldn't". He's right, doing those things
is totally self-destructive. *BUT HE KEEPS DOING THEM*! Lena Olin is
the most understandable person in the movie, but is totally unsympathetic.
All other characters do things which make no sense, and for which no
explanations are ever provided.

And there were very few scenes of Lena Olin in her underwear, and of those
few most of the time she was covered in blood (hers and others).

We didn't like or understand any character in the movie. Two thumbs down.

I agree with an earlier reply, as long as you don't make the mistake of paying
too close attention to the plot it's quite well done. The plot is very much
film noir but not the photography. If you don't enjoy film noir you won't enjoy
this. Lena Olin besides being gorgeus turn in a good performance as a
sociopathic hit woman (90's femme fatale).

Rented it over the weekend. It was ok. Lena Olin, I think that's why
I rented it. She really came on tough. Especially the missing arm part
and Gary in a scissor head lock. ouch.

Very pseudo-noirish, if that makes any sense. It didn't keep my
attention riveted to the TV, but I more or less saw most of it.

Gary Oldman was OK, Lena was interesting in that femme-fatale sort of
way, but it wasn't violent or strange or involved enough to make me
really feel like I was missing anything when I wandered out of the
room. Whoever said there were no sympathetic characters was right.

I kinda liked the ending. It was suitable.
