Of the Siskel and Ebert lists I've only seen "Nixon," "Exotica," and
"Carrington." I think I personally enjoyed "Persuasion" more than any
    of them.

I was surprised that "Sense and Sensibility" didn't make either list. It's
been on all the different Top 10 lists I've seen.

Feel free to post those lists as well (the only one's I usually
see are S&E and M&L [Sneak Previews], and it's interesting to
see what the pros think...). Thanks!

And why is Rob Roy (and Liam Neeson and Jessica Lange) being passed
    over as well?

Exotica isn't even listed in the notesfile.

rented it for $1, and considered that a waste of money.

Sorry, there were all in this past weekend papers (year end) and I
checked but yesterday was recyle day and they were all put out. I do
know that each of the film reviewers (about 7 in all) in three different
papers did their "Top 10" lists, and one of the reasons I went to see
"Sense and Sensibility" was that it was on every list except one. If
I see any others, I will be glad to post them.

...agree with previous noters, "Braveheart" was my choice for many
awards, direction, acting, best flick, cinematography...IMHO one
of the best films of the last 10 years....

Maybe Braveheart was too much like "Dances with Wolves", which won only
a few years ago? (Not the plot, but too many indians?)

Braveheart is one of the biggest dumbest films I have ever seen.
The film about a Scot, played by an Australian, shot in Ireland, is not
well acted, directed, photographed or any of the plaudits lumped on it
by so called film critics. I can't believe people who have actually
seen films before actully like it, it is such a load of hoary,
    	cliched, plagaristic, old b*ll*cks.

    "I take it your ENGLISH!!"

Yes, indeed I am dear boy, that is how I know that the sentence you
meant to write was "I take it you're ENGLISH". I didn't realise, old
chap, that being "ENGLISH" precludes me from commenting on the merits
of any films that are "SCOTTISH".

    dickie.

PS Not yet sent back to England tae think again.

Besides, "Braveheart" was a great movie!!! What else do you want
out of a film? Sure it wasn't historically accurate, but the sets and
battle scenes are some of the best of all time. Very visually
    impressive.

RE .22 - Thanks; I just didn't want things to get out of hand... (There's
always the SCOTLAND notes file for a, um, stimulating discussion of English vs.
Scottish... :-) )

Further discussion specific to "Braveheart" might be better off in the
actual "Braveheart" topic, which is #844.
