1439.0. "free sand in maynard" by TFH::PARTAIN (Set/mode=BASS_FISHIN) Fri Mar 29 1991 10:31

    Seems like a wierd place to put this, but you never know. I have a
    friend who wants to get rid of 2 tons +++ of sand in his back yard in
    the maynard area, since I did see discussion of riding rings and barn
    entryway's needing sand and the like I figured this may be helpful to
    someone, its all free, just go get it!

1439.1Just in case...BOOVX1::MANDILEFri Mar 29 1991 11:425
    FYI-Removing "fill" from property may require a permit from
    the town. (even if he just ordered it yesterday and had it
    delivered!)

    You've GOT to be kidding! 2 tons of sand is not a lot I'm sure only
    nosey busybody neighbors would complain. Where are our freedoms
    going? You know that you have to get a PERMIT to get a horse now
    in Sterling MA (for HEALTH reasons of course, funny they don't check
    the animals shot records)

    Sorry but you hit a real sore spot!

1439.4Depends upon the town's laws.....BOOVX1::MANDILEFri Mar 29 1991 16:5312
    Re .2 - Our neighbors had fill removed from their backyards...
    but didn't get a permit.
    A "nosy" neighbor reported them & us to the town. We rec'd
    a letter in the mail accusing us of illegal removal of fill.
    The fee for a removal permit is $500 (gasp!).

    Our neighbors straightened the whole mess out, which had been
    turned into a personal fight on ruining the land between our
    neighbor and the "reporter", who turned out to be the one who
    owned the land behind our neighbors.
