I am planning on auditing the Jimmy Woffard clinic at Mt. Holyoke (Ma.)
on Feb 23 and 24. I would have loved to have ridden in the clinic,
but $275 is way too steep for me.

    Anyone else attending?

    Hi Louisa,

The Jimmy Woffard clinic at Mt Holyoke is a show jumping clinic. He
usually does one in the spring in Hamilton, Ma. at Ledyard, or Flying horse
for Cross country. I'm not sure if he does dressage clinics, or not.

His book "Training the 3 day event horse and rider" came out last year
(it's a great book). He has been a successful 3 day event rider for
    many years.

1130.9Fashions for 96BIRDIE::ROYWed Feb 14 1996 18:5024
I attended the presentation on fashion by Bears and thought many
of the clothes were really nice and some of them were quite ugly!

The fashions for 96 are:

For ladies in halter classes, blazers and long jackets.

For ladies in showmanship, personal preference on whether a blazer
or traditional showmanship jacket and those HIDEOUS showmanship pants
are back in. He said he has had more requests for those pants than ever
before!

In Western Pleasure jackets are back, the blouses are going out( of course
I just bought a beautiful blouse last summer) vests are okay. In Horsemanship
you have to have a shirt.

Sequin jackets are out, horsehair and suede are in. He had some really trendy
jackets that only a real showman could wear and feel comfortable in! Foxes
on collars, coyote something or others, really bizarro stuff.

Keep in mind, these are for the bigger shows and you need to wear what you
feel comfortable in!

			EQUITANA USA

The World's Fair of Equestrian Sports
                       July 18-21, 1996

		      1133 Louisiana Avenue - Suite 108
                      Winter Park, Florida 32789
                      TEL: (407) 647-4970

                      E-Mail: equitana@cybergate.com

For the past 25 years EQUITANA. has "reined" supreme as the ultimate
equine expo and mecca to horse lovers from around the globe.
Acknowledged pioneer of the multi-breed event, EQUITANA brings
together an international cross-section of equestrian interests once
rigidly divided by politics, registry boundaries and sporting specialties.
Also recognized as the leader in the marketing of everything equestrian,
EQUITANA has consistently led the industry to new heights and in new
directions. In a word, EQUITANA is an institution... an event with
tradition and a proven concept.

Now this biennial event, held every odd numbered year in Essen, Germany is
joined by its new, sister show...EQUITANA USA. The inaugural EQUITANA USA
will be held at the Kentucky Fair & Expo Center in Louisville, KY, July 18 - 21,
1996.

EQUITANA USA is following closely in the hoofprints of its big sister, and
promises to combine American ingenuity with the elements that have made
EQUITANA in Europe so successful. And just like its big sister, the
main purpose of EQUITANA USA is to bring the wonderfully diverse
equestrian world together under one roof... and to encourage the sharing
of ideas, information and expertise.

The secondary purpose of EQUITANA USA is equally important to the future of
our industry... to attract new people to the world of the horse... and to
entertain, educate and excite them. We predict that many admirers of the
horse will become devoted horse owners based on the "high"
generated from attending EQUITANA USA!

What exactly is EQUITANA USA?

It's difficult to explain what EQUITANA USA is all about... you
really have to experience it to believe it!

First and foremost, it is a shopper's paradise, with an unsurpassed
selection of products and services from every corner of the globe
and every sector of the horse industry. If it's related to the horse...
look for it at EQUITANA USA!

Although the wide variety of commercial exhibits is reason enough
for visitors to spend a few days at EQUITANA USA, one of the
main attractions is unquestionably the horses themselves. The
kaleidoscope of breeds and disciplines that will be represented at
EQUITANA USA has never before been duplicated at any event
    in the United States.

EQUITANA USA is also an educational event. Included in the
price of admission are many demonstrations, seminars, lectures and
exhibitions. Performance arenas throughout the halls showcase an
ever-changing cast of horses and speakers each day.

EQUITANA USA is show business! Thursday, Friday and Saturday
evenings are filled with magic when the curtain rises on an equine
extravaganza called The Mane Event,SM a two hour "equestrian
variety show" guaranteed to entertain, enchant and amaze!

NOTE: We have changed the format of our schooling shows this season. Many
people have requested this change so we will try it for this season.
Classes for higher level horses will be held at the start of the show and
WT should start around 10am. This will allow for more time to lunge those
green horses. If there are sufficeitn entires WT will be held in the
indoor and training one will be in ring one around 10:00am. We think this
format will work.

1130.25Clubs to contactBIRDIE::ROYFri Jul 26 1996 18:3813
Does anyone have any suggestions on clubs to contact and advertise
the NEPHC Open Barrel Race? I'm not familiar with many gymkhana clubs
in New England. I have heard of the Maine Girls Barrel Racing Assn.
and the Triple R Gymkhana Club in NH, but that's it!

If anyone has any contacts or clubs, we would really like to advertise
with them.

Send mail at Birdie::roy or post here.

Thanks

Karen
1130.26Anyone know dates for these shows?ASDG::BECHTLERMon Aug 19 1996 16:4111
Does anyone have the schedule for horse shows at the Big E? (Eastern
States Exposition in Springfield, MA, the last 2 weeks in September)

How about that big dressage show in Halifax that's usually sometime
around the end of the summer?

I don't have a horse, but I like to go to a good show now and again. I
just don't know any easy way to find out about them.

at 9:00 AM and ends at 2:00 PM, with extended care available at 7:00 AM and
until 4:00 PM.

SESSION II: "HORSE FUN PLUS," JULY 14-18
----------------------------------------
A five-day week for children 8-13 and for younger children who are regular
riding students at Tradition Farm. This session begins at 9:00 AM and ends
at 4:00 PM, with extended care available at 7:00 AM and until 5:00 PM.

SESSION III: "DAY OF THE HORSE," AUGUST 19
------------------------------------------
A one-day experience for children 5-13. This session begins at 9:00 AM and
ends at 4:00 PM.

                            --------------------

Children in all sessions are invited to learn all about horses, horse care,
and riding. A typical day begins with a horsemanship activity and riding
lessons. Games, guest speakers, crafts, and stories enhance the learning
fun! Hands-on learning with an emphasis on safety, and a swim in the
afternoon, complete the experience. Of course, there is time to feed the
horses supper for those who are here at 3:30.

Tradition Farm's overall goal is to provide excellence in horsemanship,
sportsmanship, and education in an atmosphere promoting student safety and
esteem. The children are helped to feel comfortable and successful while
they enjoy horses and summertime fun.

Please call Tradition Farm at 603-483-8865 for further details.
