    This is a subject that I find quite awful.  In 1992 most of the
    european countries will be open for free trading.  This means that
    there will be the live exportation of horses, ponies and donkeys
    to other eurpoean countries for slaughter.  This I feel is horrific
    and must not be allowed to happen.  Horses being packed tightly into
    lorries terrified, and not knowing what awful fate awaits them.
    
    At the moment horses are slaughtered in this country (UK) and the
    meat is exported, but in 1992 this could all change if something
    is not done to stop this awful trade.  The Horse and Hound has been
    campaigning againced this and petitions have been signed as a protest
    to try and stop this happening, local shows and riding centres
    have been displaying posters to try and make people realise what
    is going to happen to our four legged friend.
    
    They call the UK an animal loving nation, but is it?

    I definately agree Wendy, I have already managed to get sheets of
    signatures, on my petition to stop this sickening trade to actually
    proceed.
    
    I looked at and read the article in the 'Horse & Hound' 2nd Aug.
    edition.  This is what urged me to actually DO something worthwhile to
    stop it....!!!!!!

    Is there anything that we can do from the states, I haven't seen
    anything in the publications that I read here, course I don't have
    time to read as many as I would like to either,

    If you like I can photo copy articals on the subject and send them
    over to you, I have kept all my "Horse and Hounds" with the articals
    in them.  Some of it is a little too much for me and I have had
    to skip those pages.
    
    But yes if you can help then that is really great, I will keep you

    I'm sure the articles would be too much for me, but are there
    any addresses listed in the articles, etc..
    Somewhere to start inquiring anyway...
    I wonder how much of this goes on that we don't know about, not
    just horses, but the abuse of other animals, I've seen alot 
    recently about research labs and dog breeders..
    Any info would be a help....
