Well noters I just wanted to say that I've really enjoyed these past
few years getting to know you all thru this file. I"m leaving Dec with
Friday the 25th being my last day. I've enjoyed meeting many of you
and those I've not met, its been nice hearing about all of your
experiences with the horses. For a new career I'm in the process of
opening up a large boarding facility in North Andover. The opportunity
arose and it was just time for me to jump at it. I'm hoping to host
an open-house in the latter part of summer, hope many of you will
be able to make it. Keep your eyes out for Deer Run Farm in the
    Pedlar and/or Equine Journal!

    Happy Riding!

I wrote my introduction here when I first started enjoying this notes
file. Now I want to take the time to say good bye and thank you all
for your responses over the last year. I will be leaving DEC on Friday
and know I will miss this conference a lot.

I have been working at DAS on assignment through Kelly Services. It
has been a wonderful experience to work with so many other horse
people. I hope to keep in touch with a few of you on the outside. It
is amazing to note that my riding has probably improved in the last
year due mainly to the support and suggestions of Equitation Noters.

It goes to show that this conference WORKS. Thanks again everyone.
It has been great. I wish you all happy hours in the saddle.
    C-ya, Marti

I would like to say goodbye to some of our Equine Notes friends
 who have been recently TFSO'd.

Dawn Fisher was given notice last week. She has a lot of experience
in the hunter/jumper world and I will miss her advice and perspective
as well as her great sense of humor. I hope I will still see her at
the local horse shows with her students.

Pat Leech, co-moderator of this notes file, was given notice today.
Pat has been a dear friend of mine since I visited her in Colorado
three years ago. We have had many horsey adventures together, both
here in NE and in CO. We have laughed and cried together over the
fun and pain of sharing one's life with horses.

Thanks, both of you, for making my life better.

I'm writing to say goodbye to everyone, please feel free to move this
reply..... I have been mostly a read-only member but know many of you
outside of work through my horse photography. I am leaving Digital
this week and don't expect to be in much this week so please don't
write. I have enjoyed my work here for the past 6 + years and have
enjoyed meeting many of you...... I am moving on to greater challenges
and will continue my photography weekends and who knows, maybe someday
I'll be that world famous photographer you used to work with!
I haven't had much time to write to each of you individually so I will
post my home number and address for you to keep in touch out of
work.... I wish each of you every success in this company and hope
to someday ...... become a part of this company or another as great as
    Digital has been someday again.

Hey, there is life after DEC!

I heard from Ellie Roberts yesterday. She's alive and doing well.

She said to say "Hi" for her and that she misses our notes conference.

You may remember that she is an artist. Well, she hasn't taken another
software related job. She's been working as an artist! She said she's
selling a fair number of pieces but not really paying the rent with her
art work. I don't think she wants to go back to 'work' if she can help
    it.

I have an e-mail address for her. If you're interested, send me mail.

If you haven't lived in Indiana before, you're in for a pleasant
surprise. The people there are among the most friendly I've met
anywhere. We lived in Noblesville (North of Indianapolis) for 3 years
and made many many lifelong friends.

I spent considerable time in Ft Wayne and less time in West Lafayette,
but they both are nice places. My only complaint... it's too flat
there for my taste; I like rolling hills and lots of trees.

Good luck with those Hoosiers and Boilermakers.

Thanks!! All that I have heard about the place is good things. I feel
that my son and myself will finally live happily ever after there.
The thing that is strange to me is that you can drive accross the state
in less than 2 hours. Where I am now it would take a bit longer.

Flat? My, that will be a change after living in a valley.

    Gin

5.21It will take getting used to.DECWET::JDADDAMIOSeattle Rain Festival: 1/1-12/31Mon Mar 21 1994 20:1723
    >The thing that is strange to me is that you can drive accross the state
    >in less than 2 hours.

Going from East to West or the other way round is a real shocker in
lots of ways! In New England(where we used to live), the states are so
small that I could get just about anywhere in the 6 state region in
4 hours or less. 'Course, we were about in the middle of the region
    which saved lots of time.

When we moved out here to WA, I wanted to go look at horses on a ranch
I had heard about. I figured it would be a hard 1-day trip because it
was in the next state. Then, I looked at the map and found out it was
14-15 hours drive EACH WAY. I decided not to go.

Where I am now, it's a 3 hour drive north to Canada, a 3 hour drive
south to Oregon, a 3-4 hour drive west to the ocean or a 5-6 hour drive
east to the Wahington-Idaho border. It ain't just the distances! It's
all these natural obstacles like mountains and Puget Sound! For example,
if you wanna go to southern Idaho from here(like I did to look at horses),
you have to go east to *Montana* and then south. The other way is SE
across Wasington & Oregon and then east. There ain't no roads in Idaho
that go north to south because of the mountains. So the trip is about
double what the straight line distance would take.

Well.. I can honestly say that I didn't think that I would be
doing this in the near future, but that goes to prove you never know
what the future holds until it gets here!

I have accepted a position outside of digital and my last day will
be this Friday June 10. I started 14 years ago in Augusta, Maine and
have arrived in New Mexico over the past two years. I am only sad
about digital and the many friends that will be left behind. The past
few weeks have been very tough but I am continually reinforced that
this is the right thing for us to be doing - even though it means a
move to Reno, Nevada (Yes John and Jan I am getting even closer!!)

The horses will of course come with us when a suitable property is
found and can be purchased. In the meantime I'll start work on the 24
of June and Jud will take care of them in New Mexico - I will be able
to fly home every other weekend. If we need them to 'hang out here' I
have the best friends who will take the best care of them until I can
have them shipped to our new home.

I wanted to fill you all in on a couple of things - Victoria just
yesterday passed all the final tests needed so that we can breed her
for a foal next year. There has been a lot of support from my old vet
in Maine and the vets here in NM and we're going to see her through to
a live foal next spring, I just know it. It really looks like the
filly she lost this past February was a fluke of nature - and we have
every reason to be optimistic! I have decided not to breed her
daughter "d.v." with the move and everything else - I'll just ride her
when I can and think about breeding her later.

On a sadder note - I got a call this morning from the folks who
bought Torries first daughter (Brooke) who is now 9 years old. They
have had to make the decision to have her put to sleep tonight... the
result of an unknown infection from a wound of unknown origin. It looks
like she had some kind of infection in her body and the cut gave it a
place to mainfest and now it has run rampant in her body and will only
get worse, not to mention the pain and potential to only have 3 legs.
I am most sad for the little girls who have loved Brooke dearly and
taken incredible care of her... she has never been sick a day in her
life and she has never been hurt. It is very sad, but I know that it
is the right thing - they have surgically tried to deal with this and
it is not an issue of money - it is a decision about her quality of
life. She will be missed. Guess it is appropriate that her mother get
pregnant again soon so that another Brooke can come along and put so
many smiles on so many little girls faces.

On the other side of life issues - I wanted to say THANKS to all
the folks in this notes conference who have become my friends and
supporters... the years have flown by! We have all been through alot
and grown, but this conference has provided SO MUCH that I can't put in
words how much I'm going to miss having the opportunity to share with
you all. For those of you in New England who frequent the shows where
Morgan horses are being shown - please look up my sister Katrina
Benington who is assistant trainer for Luman Wadhams stables and tell
her hello and that her sister misses her every day!... If you're
around Epping NH visit Rum Brook Farm where Victorias mother and father
both still live very active lives (in fact I think Highlander is at
    UMASS standing at stud)...

I wish all of you the very best as digital continues on its path
and remember how important the support of this network is in your daily
lives.. its easy to take for granted. I will miss you a great deal.

Folks that might want to stay in touch can drop a card to me at my
home address - and I'll forward the new one when it develops!

What a coicidence that this note should be here today. I just got word
that my job has been "phased out." I don't know why, but I'm still in
    shock.

I've been, over the last two years, reading this conference frequently.
I wanted a horse but didn't know anyone who had one and was scared to
death that if I bought one, one of two things would certainly happen:
    a. I would kill it
    b. It would kill me.

I am proud to say that neither has happened (or will happen).
You have all taught me so much, and your comments and criticisms have
directed me toward some good reading as well. Thanks to you my dream
came true- I finally bought a horse. What's more is that my horse,
Susie, and I are best friends!

Thank you for all your help and for giving me the confidence that I
needed to become the proud "mommy" of a sweet little mare. I'll miss
    you all.

It is with a sad heart that I am announcing my departure from Digital.
I have made many wonderful friends over the years and I have come to
think of this file as a friend, always there and full of helpful
    information.

BUT, on the brighter side I would like to let you all know that this
gives my husband and I an opportunity pursue a dream come true.
Over the next three months we will be moving to South Dakota to work
on a cattle ranch. He has been out there since the first of the year
trying it out, and loves it. Now I can join him. Riding horses,
working cattle and enjoying the beautiful midwest is something I
thought only vacations were made for.

I wish the very best for all of my close Digital friends and their

Digital has made the decision not to support a `corporate-wide power

Good luck to all of you staying. I'll miss this Notesfile, as I have

Goodbye, Melinda. I will miss our discussions about dressage. I'm sure
all the noters to whom you've offered advice over the years are sorry
    to see you leave too.

5.40Good Bye.. it's been greatBRAT::FULTZTue May 02 1995 22:1615
As of May 12, 1995 I will be resigning from Digital.

I have been with the company 15 years, and as most of you know
Seven months ago I gave birth to a One pd 5 oz named Nina.

I have decided to start a pet sitting service for horses, lama, dogs,
cats, and etc. out of my home in Chelmsford MA. Which will allow
me to spend more time with my special bundle.

I will miss the conference, but will stay in touch via internet.

	Keep in touch..

( Iam in the phone book..)	Donna
5.41Bye for nowFSAEUR::LOTHROPWed Jun 14 1995 14:3925
    Well, now it's my turn.....

I'm leaving Digital next week to move back to Boston with my husband.
We'll be returning to Marblehead, and I'll be riding again at Essex
Equestrian Cooperative. Not sure what I'll do for a job, but I'm going
to enjoy the summer - I've really missed the beach while living in the
    middle of Europe.

It's been a wonderful experience here in Germany, I wouldn't trade it
for anything. I'm really going to miss my instructor, but someday I'd
like to have him come to the States for a clinic or just a visit.

I haven't participated much in this conference, I got involved in
Equine-L out on the Internet and that took up most of my free time on
the job here. But, I'm sure I'll run into some of you at some of the
shows, especially the NEDA ones. My guy is a little old for showing
(27), but my friend Betty has offered her horse to me to continue
working on the stuff I've learned since I've been here. I'm looking
    forward to that challenge.

Give your horses a carrot from me!

    Janet

5.42Me too :-((VNABRW::MAJEWSKI_MMaciej Majewski @Vienna/AustriaThu Jul 20 1995 12:0212
I hate to say it - but me too :-((

There is no much Digital demand on business consultants and I am
    going to work elsewhere.

As a (mostly) reader of this conference I would like to wish you
all the best at DEC and in the saddle.

    See 'ya

So long, Maciej! Hey, I have an idea. You like riding on cattle drives
in the American west. I'd *love* to be in Vienna so I could study with
Hr Oberbereiter Kottas...Why don't we switch jobs for a while? ;-)

I was so saddened when I read this note, that I couldn't write anything before
this. I remember her cheerfulness and the loss I felt when she left Digital.

It is heartbreaking for someone to leave at so young an age....

Good-bye, Wendy-O. You are very missed.

Thank you! I had alot of support from alot of people I don't know. I
am very glad to still be here, and I even got a great new job in HLO
only 2.7mi from home :-) That means I'm also closer to Sultan!

Anyone doing the hunter pace in Oxford this weekend?

I wanted to take this opportunity to say farewell. I haven't been an
active participant in this notesfile though I've read every note with
great interest. I have been "tapped" for TFSO.

I'll miss this notesfile and the people who make it a great place to
    converse.

Now it's my turn to say goodbye. The latest frenzy of downsizing took
forty percent of the Internet Software Business Unit's development group
    including me.

At least I will now have time to ride my horse! I might even get him in
shape and enter a Novice event. Unless I have to move to find gainful
employment I will still be involved in various equestrian activities in
    the Greater Maynard Area.
