1429.0. "Comparison - Pleasure Riding vs Trail Riding" by KAHALA::FULTZ (ED FULTZ) Wed Mar 13 1991 10:48

The vet was recently vet-checking one of our horses (see note 1428). In the
discussion, he mentioned the horse being able to do both pleasure riding and
trail riding. What, if anything, is the difference between these two?

Are they just two names for the same thing? If so, why both names? Why are
they so prevalently used separately?

Although pleasure riding is often -- maybe most often -- done on
trails, the term "trail riding" is often used to mean competitive or
    long-distance trail riding - 30, 40, 50 miles or more at a trip. This
is a *lot* more strenuous on the horse, obviously.
